The taste can be somewhat different from what you are but you'll get the same nutrients [if not more] from organ meats. Liver(s) for example are iron-rich.

Gorging on liver(s) therefore would not only get all the protein you need but also provide enough iron without [you] having to buy any extra food to meet that need.

I highly recommend replacing beef with chicken livers. They're dirt cheap and depending on how you cook them can be very delicious.

Yes, I definitely buy inexpensive organ meats. I have a strange attitude towards food. My main interest in eating is to get sufficient nutrients to keep me going. I am not interested in bragging rights, like talk about how much I spent on my food, or talk about what kind of expensive food I can afford to buy. Very often, I buy the lard that had been stripped from the main meat. This is full of oil, which is exactly what I needed. It's cheap. It saves me buying oil. And it tastes good. What more can I ask for?

I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years now, and I would recommend that if you can't afford to buy meat, then try and live without it. I have known quite a few people over the years who, out of necessity, had to switch to a meatless diet, and who remained vegetarians. Or, as an alternative, simply reduce your meat intake. Instead of eating it every day, only have it once or twice a week.

Interestingly enough; liver (also from cows and goats), kidneys and chicken gizzards are a staple in my country! There's no shame in eating them as they've always been a part of our diet. Plus they're very delicious. But my husband (who's English) thinks they're disgusting and will not eat them. I think it's something that people in the West are not accustomed to, so it may be a very hard sell. -and I think it's more to do with the fact that people just see as being gross as opposed to it being part of a pauper's diet.

Liver is really great, it's rich in iron and minerals. Just think about it, the liver is probably one of the most important organs in our body with a myriad of functions. I think it's one of the most beneficial parts to eat, and the taste isn't that bad if it is handled right.

I'm a fan of larger animal livers, but not small livers like those found in chickens and other animals. However, if I don't wish to eat too much liver for a meal, I will opt for chicken livers. The best liver I eat are those of cows, especially when me and my family go to a ranch and buy a cattle, which the owners help to process the animal's death and innards - we do the rest of the cutting and chopping. Freshly made liver tastes so much better than store bought or restaurant made, it's softer and not chemically treated.

I read somewhere that liver has a higher percentage of protein than regular meat. Is that true? If so, the buying liver is a benefit in two ways. One, liver is generally cheaper than regular meat. Plus it has a higher percentage of protein. I wonder why bodybuilders do not eat more liver. Or do they?

Not many people in England will eat these - I am not sure why, they can be delicious if cooked properly. It is rare to see gizzards on sale at all and you can only really get good quality liver and kidneys from a specialised butchers. It's a shame as these foods are low in fat, rich in nutrients and have several health benefits.

Yes, they are delicioius. I can vouch for that. One way to cook them is to boil them in a soy sauce with onions and ginger for seasoning. Another way is to fry them with a batter, then rolled in biscuit crumbs. That's delicious.

I think that learning to live without meat is a positive step towards having a good diet. But I have never thought about organic meat as I think it consists of chemicals that are meant to preserve it. I think that best way to
keep yourself healthy is to be a vegetarian.
