I eat a lot of veggies and fruits and one food in particular loves to stain my bamboo cutting board -- red bell peppers. Hate that ugly orange stain? Grab a piece of medium grit sanding paper, and sand the cutting board until the stains disappear. Takes only a few minutes and your wooden cutting board will look like new.

Wash off the grit with soapy water, let dry. After it's dried, take some food grade mineral oil or beeswax and oil the board well, using a rag. The oil will soak in, and protect your board. Let dry overnight and then it's ready to use again.

You can do this whenever you see the stains building up and your cutting board will last a long time. No need to buy new! Save money with this tip!
