I live in a small town, so my options are Subway or a convenience store. I prefer New York style delis, but there isn't one around. Which do you prefer?
I like Subway, because the sandwiches are freshly made up as you wait, and there are healthy choice options as well. There's nothing worse than a soggy sandwich that has languished in the cold cabinet for hours, or even days. At least with Subway, you know your sandwich is as fresh as if you'd made it yourself at home.
I agree, I like Subway too. The bread is always fresh, and there is a good variety of veggies to add to your sandwich. I always feel like I am eating healthier when I go there. I feel like they are reasonably priced too compared to getting the ready-made sandwiches at the local store.
Subway, same as the above. Those sandwiches are so yummy, fresh and can even be healthy. Some of them are large too.
We have a local regional chain called "Caruso's" and they are better than national chains by far! If the choice is either Subway or a convenience store, definately Subway!
I can add a vote for Subway but only because they have a great Veggie sandwich. I know most drive-thrus will take out the meat and call it a Veggie Sandwich but with Subway you get an extra helping of the tomatos, cucumbers, lettuce and spinach so you feel full when finished.
I do prefer Subway over the convenience store, and the veggie sandwich is awesome. They are also usually on sale here, because the town is populated by Czech-Americans, who like their meat. The Convenience store makes a fairly decent pizza, though.
For some reason our town has 400,00 Subways and no Quiznos. I have no idea why they are not here. All of the Subways in town seem to be run by the same family and they have kind of gone downhill with the bread not being as fresh etc. I have actually started going to a couple of old school deli and meat shops to get my sandwiches. You pay a little more sometimes but the quality is nice.
I usually like a deli/convenient store or pizzerias for a sandwich. Always fresh and they make the sandwiches so much bigger then the chain sub places such as Subway and Blimpie. Lately I found a place called Just Subs in our town which is probably the best sandwich in town. Even their hot peppers are exclusive to them and taste so much better then any other deli peppers I have tasted! I am getting hungry now
Well, I do like Subway over the convenience store. It seems like there's a Subway on every corner around here. But I do prefer Quiznos over Subway but since the only one in town is located on the other side of the city I find it a bit too bothersome to drive there. There's also this place in my town called San Francisco Deli and I think they have the best sandwiches. The portions are huge and the prices are decent (it's a bit more spendy than Subway but considering how much you're getting I think it's worth it).
Subway and Oliver's for me! But Subway would be my #1! I only have half of their subs and I'm already full! THe turkey subway is my all time favorite.
I love Subway because the fresh flavours and bread. The Chicken Teriyaki is one of my favourites, aside from Tuna, Italian BMT, and Steak & Cheese! I must have tried almost everything on their Classics and Hot Subs' menu. We have Oliver's (well, back in my home country, anyway) and I tried it - it was lousy.
I love the sandwich shop at Whole Foods. They make the best po-boys and paninis. I don't go that often because a shrimp sandwich costs 9.00 for a 6 inch. On an everyday basis, I like Subway. You can't beat their prices and selection. Their food is always fresh and the cookies are yummy. My favorite sandwich is the Spicy Italian.
Every deli in New York is not the same, haha! Some of them are high priced and kind of swanky, some of them are cheap and grimy, and there's everything in between. For a while, my favorite place to get a sandwich was a random little bodega on a street corner that made the best chicken cutlet sandwiches ever, but I don't live in that neighborhood anymore. The bodegas where I live now are kind of bad. Now I just go to Subway.
I would have to say Subway for me but they have a ton of those around here. It's usually fresh and tasty. I have always loved it. I also like Penn Station. Cold sandwiches are definately heathier than greasy fast food which I have a soft spot for. I love a good whopper every now and then but Go Subway!
I like Firehouse Subs the best. I'm not sure how big they are, if they are in that many places yet, but their sandwiches are the best! They put these really delicious sauces on the sandwiches and they taste so fresh. They cost more than Subway though, so if I'm feeling cheap, I go to Subway as they are a good second place to go to.
My favorite sandwich shop is Capriotti's. I learned about them when I lived in Las Vegas. It was the one thing I missed when I moved back to California. Recently a shop opened up in my area. I didn't know they were here. I was so excited when I say the "opening soon" sign. My friend thought I was crazy until he ate one of their sandwiches.
I would prefer a real deli for a sub, even a pizza place will usually have some good choice but if I had to pick a commercial place then Jersey Mike's would probably be it. They cut everything right in front of you...it is a bit more expensive but they have huge, delicious sandwiches.
There are some local ones that I really like, but I'll stick with chain ones since chances are everyone is probably more familiar with them. Jimmy John's and DiBella's are probably my two favorites. I love how fast Jimmy Johns is, even for delivery, and their food always tastes incredibly fresh. DiBella's has a lot more options and their subs are enormous, making them a really good bang for the buck. One large sub could feed you lunch for like 3 days at least. You couldn't even buy that much lunch meat at the store for the price you would pay for one of their large subs.
We have a "New York-style deli" but the waitress is so rude and the prices are just way too expensive. Subway is my favorite place because it's just an overall healthier alternative to the other fast food chains. Also, it's much cheaper than anywhere else I've been. Yum, a veggie sub with chipotle sauce, light mayonnaise, salt and pepper!
