My favorite dipping sauces are Huy Fong Sriracha and Annie Chun's Gochujang. The sriracha tastes like a sweet spicy, ketchup and the Annie Chun brand of Gochujang tastes like a sweet, spicy barbecue sauce. I put them both on almost anything savory. Although it's not a dipping sauce, I also like Tabasco and Louisiana hot sauce. I could be eating something totally bland, and hot sauce makes it more lively and palatable.
For fish ball, kikiam, chicharon, kwek-kwek, I love vinegar as a dipping sauce. If you're wondering what are these, these are street foods in my country. Some people dip them in sweet sauce but I don't find the two compatible. I'd rather have them with something sour like vinegar. Then for certain viands like Sinigang or Tinola, I love fish sauce. We call it "patis" which is a salty, foul smelling dip for bland foods. Yum!
The only thing I eat with a sauce is chicken fingers with honey mustard sauce. I like ribs but I eat them dry mostly.
Oh I forgot, I really like the Rotel cheese dipping sauce. that is one of the best in my opinion. It is great for nachos and a super chip dip. I think it is one of the best dips out there. There are many good dips..it is best if you can find a dip that is loaded with fat and calories though...because some of those dips are super high in calories. although delicious!!
LOL I know, I can't stand avocado either and I'll never get used to it, but there are one or two things where it can't really be detected and it gives the consistency of mayo. I was very hesitant to start using tofu for anything, but it was actually very easy for me to get used to, since it doesn't really add a flavour. But then, I was already used to eating mostly plant foods so my taste buds were already adjusted and ready for it lol. As I said though, I don't care for mayo anyway, so my focus is on all the other sauces, spreads and dips you can make with non-yucky whole foods lol.. there's zillions
How about hummus - which is an excellent and very popular replacement for mayo. As not only is its creamy consistency very similar - but it also goes with virtually any kind of food and as the flavor can very easily be changed - as well as the consistency, with the addition of some flavored vinegar - it offers a whole lot of variety too - making it absolutely great for using either as a dipping sauce or as a dressing over salads, vegetables (roasted or raw) various meats and fish or even as a base for sandwich fillings. Also if you haven't tried it yet - Tzatziki made with Greek yogurt - is a refreshingly good and very economical alternative to sour cream dressing - especially as it can be used in all the same ways that hummus can. nearly forgot - both are not only extremely quick and easy to make - but very, very inexpensive too.
Well it certainly depends on what you are dipping into it, but overall I would have to say that a good, simple au jus might be my favorite. I am a big Italian beef fan and French Dip guy so having the hot au jus on the side just makes the meal for me. The best is that it is really easy to make at home, just use the drippings and some flour and you are good to go.
Ooooh, these are great ideas. I like both of these and I just found some good hummus recipes. I was actually looking for something to use in my dip rather than mayo, but yes, I could just change dips. Tzatziki is great stuff. I could definitely trade ranch for that. Yummy. I like ketchup and gravy the most, but I'm not picky, as long as the sauce or dip does not taste spicy then I would eat it.
I have a huge dipping sauce problem!! I'm one of those people who like multiple dipping sauces at once. (please tell me i'm not the only one). When I eat things such as chicken tenders or chicken nuggets. I like Sweet and Sour, BBQ, and Honey Mustard. I like to dip my fries in Ketchup sometimes if I want a little heat I mix Sriracha with my Ketchup. When I eat fruit with dip. I like to use caramel dip or cream cheese dip.
