In my opinion, Walmart is an excellent store. Granted, the general shopping populace is always questionable. Also, the service is not great. However, the prices of their products outshines all negatives. Walmart literally has the best prices that can be found. I do not shop there for food groceries, for the obvious, but for everyday common household items (i.e. toilet paper, printer paper, writing utensils, cheap clothing, fishing and sporting equipment, etc.) the store is great.
I agree with the "less busy time of day". When I go early in the morning, it's a smooth and trouble-free experience. My bad Walmart experiences with long lines and surly, stressed-out cashiers have all happened on Saturday afternoon, which is when everyone in the known universe wants to go shopping. When I go to Walmart in the morning, it's quiet and no one bothers me. There's even plenty of room to walk around without bumping into other customers.
I don't go in expecting much. I really just like to get my goods and leave as quickly as possible. I hate to ask for help from the workers, though. They always seem so disinterested in helping customers. I think i've only met one friendly worker. Sometimes the lines are insane as well. Once I waited in a line so long that my icecream melted. I suppose that some stores are understaffed or something. I don't have any really big problems with the company though.
I don't go to Walmart often so I cannot say much on personal experience. I can say that if it is wide spread and has not always been this way, I would guess that Walmart has now become too big for its own good. When a corporation becomes large, you need a lot of management. If it cannot keep up, it will only go into chaos. What you speak of simply sounds like bad workers that need to be rid of or worked out. But if that higher management is lacking, these workers can get away with being bad/lazy at work. This is my guesses. I am not an expert and so I could be wrong. Anyone feel free to inform me.
I heard that one woman in Walmart could not get a discount when brought coupon, they told her that the coupon fake. woman was taken from the newspaper coupon that could be used at Walmart.
hahaha I agree with the poster who said, "Who doesn't have a problem with Walmart?" That's about it! I mean, they overwork their employees and don't pay them much to pass on the savings to people. I don't agree with their ethics and it is no wonder their employees are frazzled and have long lines. I feel so bad for them. I try to be as patient as possible. I find using self checkout to be helpful.
(mods, I apologize if this posted 2x. it didn't show up when I originally submitted it) I am actually very surprised by this post. My local Walmart is excellent. The food is always fresh. The store is neat and easy to maneuver in. I have never had an issue when I use coupons. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The only time the lines are really long is at Christmas time. Honestly, my only real complaint is that some of the cashiers are very slow, but they are friendly, so I guess it evens out. I don't go there to socialize so I am not worried about what the other customers look or act like.
There's no WalMart in my city, and I hope there never will be. I'd never shop at a store that paid their employees so little that they had to rely on food stamps. Shop at Costco instead and vote with your dollars!
Walmart by far the worst store there is in my opinion. Every time I shop there, which is very, very, rare, I want to go see a therapist thereafter. Their shopping experience is so stressful and ironically this seems to be the case online as well. Like you’ve mentioned, their lines are obnoxiously long and their employees are highly unprofessional. They chronically seem to send the message that they just don’t care and that they flat out hate their jobs. On a broader scale, Walmart is bad for the community and the economy. It puts small businesses out of business and generally does not provide fair compensation to its workers despite being such a profitable corporation. It is no wonder the employees appear so unhappy!
Surprisingly, i never had a problem with them. Maybe it's because i know how to buy from them and what to buy, so i don't take that much time in there, and even then, i never had problems with the employees.
You're lucky that your Walmart has self checkout available. Mine isn't in the best area so it has multiple security guards and no self checkout. I try to go early in the morning when they first open to avoid the long lines.
The English equivalent of Walmart is Asda, Asda is one of the big supermarkets in England and it is actually owned by the Walmart company. Personally I like Asda, they offer the best value for money and variety.
yeh, I avoid Walmart like the plague. Between the people, the craziness, the people, the junk, did I mention the people? Walmart is cheap, but it is sooooo not worth it.
Have you ever tried to return anything at Walmart? I am not good at keeping receipts but would feel happy to have a gift card for a return that is clearly theirs. I took back a pair of shoes, their brand, still in the box with tags on! Nope, not in their computer! I even called the manager---nope! Bunch of jerks. When I have to power shop at Christmas, I may go back but it is doubtful! Toys are cheaper but... My husband won't set foot in that store, not ever, because of the way the treat their employees. We unfortunately live in an economically depressed area; people need to work, people need groceries. Unfortunate. I myself, was at the Food Pantry, saw two Walmart employees come in for the free bread. I was there for the same reason but I am out of work and hopefully, understandable.
I'm not a shopping person in general but many times I'd much rather buy from Walmart than anywhere else. They have some things that other stores don't have and I don't feel like the merchandise is poor quality. I bought good earbuds from there for 10 dollars. They actually fit my flicted ears and probably would have lasted if my Yorkie hadn't have chewed them. I've got a lot of stuff from there in general over the years. Everyone hates the lines though. Sometimes I hate going in there because I end up getting hungry before I get home. The customer service can be bad but I rarely need help with anything. The last time we tried to return something it worked out so I think aside from the terribly long line I can easily return things. I guess you do have to have the receipt but isn't that any store nowadays?
