Polythene has ensured its continuity by finding other applications, for instance, irrigation. Its spread inside a ditch and then a layer of soil is spread over the polythene to the desired height before planting. This method is quite economical as no water goes to waste through seepage. It can be used to grow high value crops including those which are water intensive to grow with no water stress.
