Dimmers are an excellent way to rate electricity when installed. Some people find it hard to switch on and off the lights and there is even an app that can be used to dim and turn off the lights automatically when one is away. You should ensure that the switches installed are compatible with dimmers.
When we moved to this house that we bought in 2001, we planned to install lights with dimmer because we find it cute. However, the electrician warned us that those lights with dimmer tend to have a short life span. We asked around and upon getting the same response from users of dimmers, we dropped the plan. What we did was to compute for the optimum brightness for each room for the proper wattage of light bulbs. Over brightness adds cost to electric consumption.
