I would have to say Walmart, however, I don't have much exposure to Target. I've only been when visiting the States. However, next year Target is going to replace a local Zellers. Nonetheless, I have been pretty happy with Walmart overall. I actually like a lot of the George clothing line and accessories, and it is very inexpensive. But I'm sure Target is quite competitive and would have equally inexpensive, but cute clothing lines.
I personally like to shop at Target when I am feeling a little high society and want to buy something for myself, such as bath and body products or a nice outfit. The lines are short and sweet, and if they are not they will open up more promptly. I save Wal Mart for the family goods, and snacks. I dread going into our local Wal Mart here in Vegas. As soon as you walk in the greeter barely greets you. The store is filled with chaotic people fighting over the last flat screen television. The produce and deli items are questionable. To be honest the prices are not all that low as they try and make you think. No matter what time of day I go they always have three registers open for thirty customers. I also think that they should offer some kind of frequent shopper discount. How can you be the biggest retailer in the universe and not offer customers bonus points for shopping. I think I will present this to the newest CEO's, seeing as how Wal Mart changes owners every few weeks. As for K-Mart it is a has been for me I haven't stepped foot in one in years.
I shop at all 3. My favorite is Target. I like more of their things and their shopping experience in this area is so much better than Wal-Marts. Their prices on some things can be a little higher, but for me it's worth it. They also will have good clearance sales where I will buy more at that time and at the Wal-Marts near me all I find on clearance usually is junk. I do still go to Wal-mart as they carry more items and if it's not at Target, I will go there. I only occasionally shop at KMart, basically when I see in the paper they are having a good sale that I want to check out.
I have sort of a split opinion. I certainly prefer shopping at Target over the other two. It's much cleaner, better quality merchandise, it's just all around a better environment. But, Walmarts prices really can't be beat so I find myself often having to choose Walmart over Target. Walmart is where we do probably 90% of our grocery shopping and household things we need. I tend to buy a lot of clothing from Target though, it is much better quality than Walmart and I think much cuter too. Also things like bedding and kitchen appliances I tend to choose from Target.
I will choose Walmart because of their cheap prices, and I think that Walmart has more things to choose from. In my opinion, I think that Target is kind of expensive.
Walmart does have more of a selection, but I'm not sure they have better prices on everything. We don't have a super target in the area, so I can't speak for groceries, but I think there baby items are cheaper. Althought this is usually Targets sale price. I only buy certain things at each store. I'm a bit turned off by Walmart's size and that you can't run in and get a few things. Every trip takes us at least an hour. I also use shopkick on my phone, and you can redeem the points for Target gift cards. That's a huge plus in my book.
I voted Walmart. Here in South Africa we don't have either Target or K-mart. Walmart owns a large chunk of a local retail chain called Mass Mart and ever since they took over we've been getting great deals. Local suppliers seem to be worried though about Walmarts practice of importing cheap goods and cutting local manufactures. It's all part of business I suppose. If I ever visit America I can check out the K-mart and Target and maybe revisit your poll.
Target!! When it comes to shopping for a birthday gift, household items, dog food and dog toys and accessories, holiday shopping, gardening, and even videos, Target is definitely the first place I go to! They don't always have the lowest prices, but they do have the better customer service, better quality products, and a huge variety. Wal-Mart is usually my back up store if something isn't at Target. Wal-Mart's food selection is also better than Target's, although I think that's because Wal-Mart has been at it longer. I do find better fitting clothes at Wal-Mart, but sometimes Target will surprise me and they do seem to be getting better with their selections. Honestly, I don't mind the extra gas and I'll usually drive to Target then the grocery store and then pick up anything that was left out at Wal-Mart. K-Mart on the other hand is not an option (bad service, poor quality, out dated food and small product selection).
Wal Mart has everything I need and I like most of their prices. I've never had a problem returning things either. There are no KMarts in my area, but there is a Target not far away and I love to go there-it's a few steps up from Wal Mart.
I shop at Target and Wal Mart, though I have to admit, I prefer Target. The specific store I frequent is never as busy as Wal Mart and I cannot stand crowds. Plus, as you mentioned in your original post, I do not agree with the business practices of Wal Mart. But sometimes you just want or need a good deal and they certainly do have lower prices. In addition, I find that Target has better quality items that will last me longer, and thus, are worth paying more for. As far as Kmart is concerned, they're way overpriced for what they offer.
Target all the way!!! I seriously go through Target withdrawls if I haven't been in over a week. I am such a fan of their home decor and their clothes and their sales make my life!!! I find that Walmart quality isn't quite there and k-mart's are hard to find and always seem to be in a really big mess when I go. Target just always has what I need and it's always fun to waste a couple hours just shopping and browsing around their stores. Plus their make-up section is huge and I love Sonia Kashuk's line and you can only buy that at Target so there you go.
Personally, I have nothing against Target or Kmart, I have had good shopping experiences at both, but Walmart is the ultimate in one-stop shopping which is a great convenience at times. Where else can I get groceries, socks, small appliances, craft supplies and tires all in the same place? The variety of selection is good and so is the price.
I love me some Walmart. Anything you could possibly need is there. I have seen fishermen buying bait from the refrigerated case in the sporting goods section. Bait! What other store can you buy Pop Tarts, fishing bait, an artist's watercolor set and a futon in one trip?
For food, I have found that Walmart is the most affordable in my area. Buying food from Kmart or Target is pricey in my area. Most of the time, though, I shop at either Kroger, SaveALot, or Aldi's for my food because they are the cheapest that I have found.
It depends on what items I buy when I'm at the store. I prefer Target because it is less crazy than Walmart and offers better quality of the items. Kmart is too far away from where I live, therefore, I haven't gone to Kmart for 7 years. I sometimes go to Walmart when I buy something such as home appliances. I often go to Target to buy stuff such as personal products and clothes. I don't have a preference because I often go to Fred Meyer pretty much for everything else.
I'm a Target lover. I know it sounds silly, but I love getting in through those doors. They have a great selection of beauty products, clothes, shoes, grocery, home department. I think Target is the best! I do like Walmart for cheap grocery items, and believe it or not I have never been to K-mart.
