I have seen just recently the ads for SSD - solid state drive which is an alternative for the usual hard disk drive. What's appealing with SSD is that it has no moving parts like the rotating disk of the hard disk drive. The SSD is actually like the SD card of the smart phone or the USB drive which is made of microchip that can store data up to 500 GB or more. And although it is more expensive than the hard disk drive, its integrity cannot be questioned.
There are a number of good reasons why SSDs are far much better than the spinning HDD. - SSDs have longer life expectancy. They can outlive any HDD. - You should expect lower failure rates compared to traditional HDD. - You can access data faster on Solid State Drives. - Are more resistant to damage. And more . . . They are well worth their price IMHO.
As already mentioned, SSDs have a longer life. Plus, with an SSD, your system will boot up like a mac, as in instantly. And that is priceless in a world looking for greater speed.
