That's assuming that you can't do it yourself. It's something akin to maintenance. Have a professional look at your PC, replace some parts or do a fancy upgrade of some kind and once your are out of their shop you computer will be almost as good as new. That would mean you won't have to replace the computer for another year. I haven't ever done this but once I get myself a new computer I'll give it a try. What do you guys think? Would this be a waste of money or something that would end up saving me some cash in the long term?
Eh, that's pretty useless. There's no reason to upgrade anything unless you actually feel the need to, and if you are at least a little sensible with your computer use, there's no reason to get it checked up. Those maintenance offers are all borderline scams, because they won't do nothing more than run an antivirus and a registry cleaner, then bill you ridiculius amounts of money for it.
Y'know, I think the basic PC maintenance should be being able to keep the dust out (installing dust filters, having good habits about where to have your computer, and opening it to clean it a bit if you know it starts to accumulate dust and the temperature goes up) -- at least for the hardware. For the software part, knowing good surfin' habits, having a good antivirus etc etc should also be enough that, if you take care, you don't really have any reason to put your computer in the hands of a specialist until something goes wrong. But, do backups.
Yeah I think that this is something that you should try to do from time. The maintenance that I am speaking about is to keep cleaning it so that it does not have too much dust and stuff in it. I also like to run some test and defrag my pc. Other than that I try not to get too crazy about it as it could cost you a lot of money.
I don't think that many people would like for their privacy to be invaded like that anyway. Usually, when people being in professionals to take a look at their computers for them, there is an issue that cannot be solved by the average computer user, plaguing the machine. That is the only way that I would have someone else come in and check my computer. I do think that it is important to reformat from time to time though.
I think it's a good practice to do so if you could afford the time and effort and if you know someone you could trust. I don't think it's that expensive to have it maintained anyway, because as far as I know they will probably just do a bit of software refreshing and also maybe a bit of cleaning on the hardware. I think it will save you a little bit more in the long run since you could preserve the life of your computer than you originally would have if you regularly have it checked for maintenance.
No, I can get by not having my pc checked, because from my experience, it can run smoothly for years without any professional looking at it. I noticed that I am mostly the one causing it to malfunction, lol.
There's no point in having anyone but yourself do the PC checkup. It's a process that everyone should be able to handle, and you shouldn't own a PC if you can't do this yourself. All a checkup entails is making sure that everything is running properly without viruses, and you'll need to clean out the casing of the desktop or laptop. The entire process shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, and upgrades are easy enough to perform.
I would say for a lot of people- yes. Most people I know who aren't too skilled with computers quickly get overloaded with viruses and frustrated with their PCs; if someone came by yearly (or even more often) and dealt with these issues, these people would have a more enjoyable computer experience. When I was growing up a friends dad would often help me out with computer issues I was having which helped tremendously at times. I don't see constantly updating software as being as important, but it could definitely have benefits.
I mean it can't hurt to have someone look at it. I had Staples clean out my laptop and it was the best thing that could have happened to my laptop. I had Norton on my laptop so that I wouldn't get a virus, and I knew that I had one on my laptop, but I didn't know the extent of the virus. When I was at Staples they told me that these people had taken over my laptop and Norton, so when I checked to make sure that my laptop was clean on Norton, it always said that it was clean. That's what these people do. That's how they can get into your laptop, with you thinking that your laptop is clean. I had my laptop for awhile, and honestly I don't think that it would hurt if you did get a check up one a year. If you keep getting them then you will know that your laptop is running the way that it's supposed to be. My laptop will only last another year or so I would have to say, and when I go and buy a new one I actually might do that. I don't know how necessary that will be though, I want to get a Mac and I know that they are better able to keep virus' away.
