Whether you are using an electric stove or a gas range, it is a good habit to be on the lookout for wasted power. When cooking a small amount of food, use a small pot for boiling or a skillet for frying. The bigger the cooking pot, the more heat it requires. And, of course, the fire should be just enough for the size of pot, i.e. the small pot needs only a low fire. For boiling water like cooking an egg, the water in the pot should just be just enough to submerge ¾ of the egg. The more water, the more heat is requires. In cooking food, always calculate the amount you need to avoid leftover because that portion of leftover food also wasted gas or electricity in cooking.
That is true @Alexandoy. I am careful in such things. I go for the correct sizes of utensils. Infact when it comes to boiling eggs I always prefer a steel vessel so that it will get heated quickly. I also avoid keeping the gas on between rolling out chapatis etc.
