Not exactly a "surprise" (from them to me, anyway). More like ... well, here's how it happened. Answering a follow-up survey on a past pizza-order, I got a $10 discount-code for my next order. Those codes are only usable on full-price orders, and Pizza Hut (at least in my area ...Log In) also offers "2 medium pizzas--'any toppings'--for $6.99 each'---which is nice, but makes the $10-discount impossible. So ... well, to tell you what happened I'll tell you what I put on the follow-up survey for THIS order: they give a space (below the '1-to-5 order-rating') to "tell how your online-interaction went," and I said 'Awesome! So awesome I'm almost 'afraid to Jinx it' by telling what happened. I knew I could either get the '2 mediums for $6.99 each'-deal or use the '$10-off' coupon if I got the 2 mediums at full-price. So I put in for the full-price (minus the coupon) plus tax (to see how much it was), then for the 2 mediums deal plus tax---the second was 23 cents more than the first, so I put in for the first deal again; but I hadn't 'actually entered' the coupon the first time (only figuring '(full price + tax) - ten,' instead of '(full price - ten) + tax'), so the coupon-deal was actually ONE-HUNDRED-&-ELEVEN CENTS lower than 'the two mediums'-deal! A happy surprise!' Maybe that (adding the tax AFTER the discount rather than BEFORE) is the normal thing. But 'not knowing' gave me a nice surprise!
