So, I've been shopping at Aldi's for awhile now and wanted to get an opinion from other people. I find that I spend about 50% less if I shop there than if I go to a different grocery store. What about everyone else? Also, is there any product that you absolutely love from Aldi's? One that I have found, but isn't carried all the time is a delicious lemon hummus. It tastes soo good! To me, it tasted like the icing on a lemon cookie. I found that it was a great, healthier alternative for a dessert. I just spread it on a whole wheat cracker and it was delicious!
I know that if you check expiration dates carefully it is rather easy for you to find the best prices available.
I do most of my shopping at Aldi or LIDL, and I'm really pleased with the quality. I particularly like their bratwurst sausages - they're so meaty, and such a change from some of the inferior sausages around. I also find their own brand beers and wines comparable with the more expensive brands. The only thing I don't buy from there is tea and coffee, as we like a particular brand, and find nothing else even comes close.
Aldi has great deals. Most everything is substantially cheaper there than compared to Wal-Mart. I have noticed though that dairy products and meat are way more expensive at Aldi than most other places though. Aldi is definitely the bees knees for everything else though. They are definitely a unique store though. They don't supply grocery bags, and you have to pay for a cart. Also, the aisles are also kind of conveyor-beltesque. (for lack of a better term) The store by me only has one aisle and if you happen to skip something along the way, you have to squeeze your way backwards through traffic of people to get the item you missed. Another negative is that they only accept cash which stinks because I hardly ever carry cash. I use my debit card for most of my purchases. All in all I'd rate aldi a 8 out of 10. Oh yeah. If you guys like energy drinks; check out Aldis brand of energy drinks. They are way cheaper than red bull and taste better too.
I have only shopped at Aldi's once or twice. I was thrilled to find groceries so cheap. Though I was not happy with how unfriendly the employees were. Instead of being helpful and pleasant, they were more or less trying to just push people through the line as quickly as possible. Customer service is a make it or break it factor for me with stores. Since I experienced poor customer service both times I visited the location, I have not returned.
We actually have a bunch of threads about Aldis that you might find helpful: Log InLog InLog InLog In I do a ton of my shopping there. I still shop at Kroger's for meat, produce sales, couponing, etc, but Aldi is for all of my basics and pantry fillers.
