Most of the Once Upon a Childs I have visited I'd consider to be clean, busy places, eager to help customers find what they're looking for. Last night, I tried a new store. Holy smokes! I've never seen such a train wreck in my life. You couldn't even see the floor. It looked like it was the day after Black Friday and the store had been torn apart. I don't know how anybody could ever find anything they're looking for. It was an insane experience, and yet, there was a line 6 people deep. If I were the owners, I'd be committed to not taking anymore clothes/shoes/toys until they sell 50% of what they have. I love consignment stores - especially kids stores. It's impossible for us to afford to buy everything full price.

Share your experiences at Once Upon a Child.

I have never heard about this particular chain of stores. Can you give me more information - like if this is just a local thing? Also what do the prices tend to be like and what would you say is the best thing about the chain?

We have only one in our area. It's usually in the disorganized mess you described above, but the line is always long. Lots of people shop there. I go there on occasion when I need something specific. We have a locally owned resale shop that has much better prices. I usually look there first. There inventory is just as good and cheaper is always better.

I love Once Upon a Child so much! They were a lifesaver for me with maternity clothes, and I am always amazed at the quality of baby clothes they sell there. I am expecting my first child in a month and the store has been a huge help. The one we shop at doesn't have any problems with messes, but I'm sure inconsiderate shoppers tearing through all the clothes could be hard to keep up with and clean up after!

I've been to 2 different ones. I've found they are a lot different in my area. I liked the one near where I used to live way better than the one near where I am now living. The sales people were nicer at the other one, they were more organized, and most of all the prices are way different. I got Disney books at the old one for $1.50 (when they're not on sale) that are $3.50 to $4.50 at the one near me now. The clothes are a lot the same. I don't even shop there for that stuff any longer unless I know they're having a sale. Really the only thing I have tried stopping in for were shoes. They don't have near the selection of shoes either, so I really am not going to go back unless they have a really good sale going on.

Once Upon a Child is a great place to shop and get rid of old clothes. We have had nothing but good thoughts about them. They always seem to be out doing things for the community as well.

I have never seen the store in our area. Your story had me laughing out loud. It sounds like a good chain, to buy various things.
