I had a personal loan with Bank of America and it was the worst mistake I ever made. I know that I will never deal with them again and honestly if they are going to be the bank to carry my mortgage I would have to turn them down.
Bank of America is one of the only banks that will open an account for you, even if you are in Check Systems..... Shhhh its a secret....
Oh wow, don't even get me started...I could go on for days...I detest Bank of America. I moved to Colorado from Arizona and just started a new job, I had my check put into my account with direct deposit. Well, long story short, Bank of ALMOST America has no branches in the state of Colorado and they decided that I had signed to take over $800 out of my account through an ATM on a day that I was out pawning jewelry for money to move to Colorado. They never provided me with the signature that I had supposedly given to take this money out, although I requested that they do this several times in the multitude of phone conversations I has with them. They hit me for an additional $700 in late fees and overdraft fees and I eventually just paid off the account and closed it out of complete aggravation. They then decided to put me on the banking black list so I was unable to open an account anywhere on my own for five years. This occurred years ago, but I will never forget it.
I haven't had any problems with Bank of America either, maybe I don't have enough money or use my bank account enough to notice any problems. I have their eBanking account, so I do all my banking electronically with no human contact. If I ever have to have a teller make a deposit for me, I'll have to pay a fee. So I use ATM's and Paypal to make deposits.
I have never really had any issues with Bank of America. I think some of the service they offer is great compared to other banks, especially greedy JP Morgan Chase. I had Chase for a few years and almost every month I had to contact them about my account being charged insufficient fund fees and I never utilized any checks or allowed any company to take money from my account. Eventually, Chase explained to me it was a system glitch and I would be reimbursed any insufficient fund fee incurred.
They have terrible customer service; I know from working there and it was the worst training I have ever received. It was all abut selling stuff and not taking care of the customers. Be forewarned; when you call for "customer service," you are calling the sales team. Then when you are calling the sales team to open a new account...you are calling a different sales team than the one that acts as customer service.
I can't say that I'm a fan of Bank of America. Their policies in general are weighted to screw the customer and their so-called "customer service" is non existant. I think that we need to pull our support of these ultra-large banks and put our money into local credit unions.
What a big mess. I have opened an account with Bank of America, such a long time ago. But can't remember if I encountered so many problems with the account. Sad situation. You expect competency from a major bank. Or should be able to.
