What is the most you have ever spent dining out whether it was with your family or significant other? My fiance went to a really nice steak house a couple of years ago before attending a Celtics Women concert and spent about $200 on our meals. It was a really nice night, but we will not be doing that again for quite a while.
I think the most amount between my husband and myself is $150 and that was for our engagement dinner at this really swanky restaurant. It has all your typical fixings like steak and seafood and stuff but what we're paying for more often than not is the environment, because it has this little gondola that takes you from the parking lot down to the restaurant
I'm around there too in the hundreds. I'd say about $250 was the most I paid for a meal. So, realistically if we're just talking about one person (because there were two) I would say $125 with drinks.
I do not spend a lot in foods when I go out. I do believe it is really not of much great use and though the meal is good enough, I would prefer never to spend quite a lot. I usually would prefer to spend my money on other stuffs. It is the best thing about saving money that you can use it for anything and everything else.
To celebrate our 10th anniversary, my husband and I took a trip to Las Vegas. He found a French restaurant at the Bellagio that got rave reviews, so we decided to make a reservation and treat ourselves. For just the two of us, with a prix fixe menu and one bottle of wine our bill was over $400 (and the food wasn't even that good..literally pigeon eggs!). The sad part was, after we spent all that money on a "gourmet" meal, all we wanted to do was to go find a burger and some fries somewhere!
The most I have spent on myself when the bill was split was in Barbados and it was $100 each. I used to eat out a lot and an ex actually let me pay and that was $200, I'm glad he is an ex! These days it can be cheaper to eat out with coupons and groupons, but I'm not in the market to spend so much these days.
I think around $200-$300, and mostly because there were alcoholic drinks involved. Personally I wouldn't want to spent more than $100 on any meal unless it were a really special occasion.
I've had a few $150-$200+ mishaps, and I'm embarrassed to say I really didn't intend on spending that much but I ended up getting too drunk and one thing led to another. What's even crazier is in some of those situations I actually bought meals/drinks for complete strangers, lol. One of the worst mess-ups was when a large group of my friends and acquaintances went out to dinner at a local fine dining restaurant. We used to hit up their lounge about once or twice a week and splurge on a nice meal and drinks. One of these evenings in particular, I stupidly decided to buy the whole table a round of drinks - but wasn't thinking about exactly who was there with us, most of them were drinking double Grey Goose martini's. That round of drinks alone was over $150 before tip...ouch. Another time I was at a casino on the Jersey shore with a friend of mine having some dinner & drinks at the bar, and we struck up a conversation with this older couple who was sitting near us. Long story short, when I get drunk I get really friendly and generous - I ended up insisting on picking up their check, as my "good deed for the day" which was about $100, on top of the $150 or so I had rung up myself. Another time I went out for some drinks with strangers from a wedding reception we had just attended (you know, because we didn't already drink enough there!), and I got sick of waiting for the bartender to come over and make all our drinks, so I just bought several bottles from the bar, and paid the full markup price on them and passed them around to everyone in our group. The only good thing about that situation was that some of the people in the group happened to be local cops and they got me out of a speeding ticket I had recently gotten as a "thank you".
I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I once had a man take me to Ruths Chris Steakhouse and ordered a $700 bottle of wine. So when all was said and done, including the port wine he ordered with desert, our dinner was just under $1000. I would never EVER spend that much myself, but it was a really good meal and the wine was awesome.
I'm a very 'frugal' person. You could even call me miserly. I usually only spend about $50 when I'm out dining with the family. We have a little arrangement and they all agree that we shouldn't spend so much. Before I was married though, my wife, then girlfriend, went to a steakhouse to meet her parents for the first time. Wanting them very much to like me, I spent $2000 on the whole meal which were a couple of steak dinners plus a very expensive bottle of wine.
