Our McDonalds doesn't have anything that cool. We have peach and cream pies now. But they have a discount menu each day. Mondays are like 2 hamburgers for a dollar or something like that. We generally get what everyone in the area gets so I don't think they ever have a "regional" meal other than the discount menu for each day.
We don't have many regional products here unfortunately, aside from a few promotional items every now and then. The closest we have of it would probably be the different local favors of McFlurry, but that's about it. I'm very curious to try the McRib though, and I really hope they eventually decide to make it available internationally.
McRib seems pretty regional to me Ripley, at least I haven't seen it here at my country. I don't know how regional McFlurry flavors are, I think they are pretty standard, meaning, we have M&M, KitKat and those flavors, I think it's a worldwide thing right?
I think McFlurrys' flavors are regional as well. I did a quick Google search and found a few flavors that I've never seen available here like Twix and Creme Eggs. It really should be all available everywhere, since its a global chain it's unfair that we see great stuff in other countries
I know that some of the flavors are also seasonal. So a region that doesn't normally get Twix might get it for the holidays or something similar. They throw out a new limited-time McFlurry every once in awhile, but they're often flavors that are always available in other regions. I wouldn't mind have a much larger selection to choose from.
Here in Austria they sometimes have regionally inspired burgers. There's one called "Big Rösti", which contains beef and bacon with a hash brown, Emmentaler and some other kind of cheese. I really like this one, so I don't remember the other ones, but there are also some others.
Here in Turkey we have the "McTurco" It's a spin-off of a lot of classic McDonald's names. It's basically a wrap which you can find at a lot of other, much cheaper places, with the "Mc" added on to jack up the price. With that being said it is actually really good.
LOL, love the name and the description and that is why Mc burgers and wraps are so successful, regardless of being healthy or not, they are really good indeed. I am now wanting to try that McTurco, I think it would be a good idea if they made these local products circulate worldwide.
I've never had the opportunity to see special items on a menu. I moved locations and I still have yet to see what is different on the menu. I do know that in the southwestern part of the Unites states, you will find a lot more spicier variations of a typical menu. An item like "spicy something-something" would be seen. I also have never tasted a McRib. I am one of the unlucky or lucky - depending how you look at it- who have never tried this item. It is great marketing by Mcdonalds. This way they have the ability to appeal to customers all over the world with different likes and needs. I know Japan has some creative items that I'd like to try.
I have got to agree that McDonalds in the UK is absolutely rubbish in terms of unique items. When I visited China, the McDonalds and KFC there mostly had menus that suited to the local population, like for example, I am sure they had Congee and grilled chicken wings or something like that. Where as here in the UK, it's just your typical Big Mac/Cheeseburger.
I'm from Mauritius and McDonalds here has some common meals like the McSpicy, Big Mac, McFlurry, Apple pies... nothing really new apart from the daily meals.
When I visited a friend in Romania, they had a regional special there called McMici which was basically rolls of minced beef or pork with various regional spices and condiments which is a romanian traditional dish and you had that but put in a burger which was quite an interesting taste apart from the regular meat in burgers.
McDonalds guys are really creative and they manage to adapt to the different realities of the different countries they enter. The best thing I've tried from Mc believe it or not and I will say it again was the grape juice in Tokyo, I loved it, I even bought a can of grape juice in the supermarket, but that was not the same thing.
