I prefer fresh fish than anything from a fast food place. The oilier the fish the better, too. I really like tune, mackerel and salmon. I'll only buy something from a fast food place maybe once a month or once every few months. I used to eat it more often but not so much these days.
I'm surprised because this doesn't sound very appealing at all. I would choose a Big Mac over this every-time. For some reason I just don't think fish belongs in fast food restaurants like this.
I tried the ones at McDonalds, and also the ones that Rallys/Checkers has. I have to say, if you have a Rallys or Checkers near you, they are much better. They are crispier, bigger, taste better, and you get more in a box with a lower price tag. I can't say that I would eat them all the time though. Nothing can replace grabbing some nice, fresh fish at the market and cooking it myself on the grill. The bites make a nice snack when I'm in a hurry though!
No matter which way you look at this they are awful for your health. They may taste good, alot of fried foods are. But for the amount of money you pay you are getting mostly grease and breading. It may be well worth it to go to the store and spend extra money on a fish fillet that has not been breaded or processed. If the issue is convienence or a need for gettting something quickly. I would recommend subway or even a veggie burger from Burger King.
I wouldn't trust eating Fish McBites from McDonald's. I'm sure it's just a marketing technique due to Lent and several Catholics not eating meat on Fridays. Though I've never tried them, I feel like they would taste like those cheap, nasty fish sandwiches we used to get for lunch in elementary school.
