I've been experimenting with making my own iced tea lately and have been surprised by how many different flavours I can create that way. Especially looking at the cost of cold drinks and cold teas at the supermarket, compared to the cost of buying some tea bags and fruit, essentially. I particularly like to make peach iced tea using fresh peaches and black tea, and a little bit of sugar if I find the peaches weren't quite sweet enough, but I also like raspberry and lemon. For Christmas I made an Apple cinnamon iced tea and that went down well with the family. Do you ever make your own iced teas? Does anyone have any ideas for flavours I could try? Do you think the cost of making your own is worth it, compared with buying it pre-made from the store?
I am not a tea drinker but our housemaid makes a good tea according to my wife. What she uses is the plain teabags that she brews. But the flavoring is what matters in tea. With the drops of lemon from the backyard harvest, I think she also adds vanilla extract which gives the tea an attractive aroma. Another add on is the leaves of mint (also picked from our garden) that serves as flavoring and decoration for the pitcher of iced tea.
You can try making a 4 seasons Iced Tea. Just mix juices of 4 different fruits. The most ideal combination are Orange, Pineapple, mango and strawberry. If you mixed those 4 fruits together with tea. You will have an explosion of flavors.
Wow. I have never tried making my own iced tea but I feel it must be a lot cheaper considering the cost I have seen in restaurants. The fact that you are free to experiment with what serves you the best is an added advantage.
This is a great way to save a good amount of money on tea and by the sound of it you make them natural as for store bought iced tea is usually artificially flavored. I like iced tea but I don't buy it often because it's pricey so I guess I will try making my own from now on. Thank you for the ideas I never heard of this before.
I have a very simple method of making iced tea which we both my wife and love drinking during summers. I pour 2 cups of boiled water over one teabag into heatproof cattle and leave it for 4-5 minutes. We both love extra sugar so add 4 tsf sugar into it and then stir it in 3 cups of ice cubes until melted.
well my wife does a great job when it comes to making her own iced tea. It does taste good and at least we know what's in there unlike drinking concentrated powdered iced tea. By the taste of it I guess it's made of tea, lemon and a bit of brown sugar. I guessed because she does not like it when ever I watch her do it.
I enjoy iced tea, however, I have never made iced tea myself. When I want to cool myself, I make sherbet or lemonade instead. When I drink tea, it is usually, hot drink. My favorite tea is the tea made from water, milk, and tea leaves. I like strong flavored tea.
