Not the way I eat it...triple cheese on everything. That's why I don't go there too often, I absolutely love the subs they do. You could probably make it healthy if you only got a veggie one on wholewheat bread but I think Subway is a treat so I go all out.
I agree, it depends on what you put together in your sub. @Log In.....when I did used to like SubWay, I was like you, too hehe. I always went for the Meatball Marinara and topped it up with double cheese LOL It was very delicious and not very healthy. Now my husband always went for something a lot healthier, but not by design, but more because he's a very fussy eater. So it can be as healthy as you make it or the extreme opposite.
No, not really. It is a healthy alternative, but healthy is not exactly what I would call it. Health implies quality control, specification of material, knowing where your food came from...subway is more like a blind-trust better-than-burger alternative to whatever you're doing.
Well it's easy for someone to say that the sandwcich is good or bad either way. I am not disputing that your assumption may be correct, however, I would like to know why it would be deemed to be bad for me. Just saying it's bad without reason will not affored me the ability to make a reasonable assessment of the product.
I've heard that they are not that healthy though most of the details I've heard of it are mostly anecdotal as I've never researched or looked further into it. I imagine that it is at the very least a little healthier than burgers though since you get a bit more vegetables and less meat and oil but as far as calories it probably comes mostly from the dressing and the bread. I think it's more just a healthier option rather than just being flat out healthy.
Of course they are not healthy. Most of these take out establishments are usually far from healthy, and subway is most definitely one that falls into the unhealthy category. People see salads, and think that if they put some salad on their sub, along with the high in calories sauces, and meats, that everything will be ok, and that they are still being healthy. They use GMO's for a start.
Well, whether Subway is healthy or not kind of depends on what you eat there. Sure, a sub is healthier than say a cheeseburger, but it's only as healthy as you make it. Getting a sub with a lot of vegetables and only drinking water or juice instead of the sugary sodas makes it a healthier meal. However, a sub with lots of ranch, pepperoni or pork meat plus the chips and a large soda cannot be considered a healthy meal.
I think it is all unhealthy. But obviously there are going to be some food choices that are more unhealthy than others, and plus there is the ability to stack different ingredients upon other ingredients, which may be unhealthier than anything else. But it has been proven now that it is often not the meat that is bad for people - but it is the bread that comes with the subway or the burger.
Subway has the potential to be healthier than a typical fast food meal. But healthier isn’t the same as healthy. Although Not all of the sandwiches at Subway are healthy alternatives to the food served at McDonald’s, Burger King or Arby’s. Some are just as bad (if not worse) than the menu items at McDonald’s. Like ordering a 6-inch Chicken and Bacon Ranch on Italian herbs and cheese bread with the recommended fixings. It’s ridiculously unhealthy. Because It has more calories, saturated fat, cholesterol and sugar than a double cheeseburger from McDonalds’ dollar menu. I prefer a burger in that case.
People equate "healthy" with "doesn't make you fat", which isn't the case at all. I can stay thin on a McDonalds diet (though I definitely won't look as good..there is a difference between healthy thin and unhealthy thin). Thin doesn't mean I'll healthy. You can be thin and still be obese on the inside. Heavily processed, crap filled breads are not healthy. Meat adds nothing to your health.. study after study proves it to do the opposite (yes, I'm aware some of you prefer the studies that say it's gold. we can debate all we want.. we're obligate plant eaters.. we won't die without meat, more often we get healthier).. the little it offers, you can get from much better, healthier sources. Adding veggies to something doesn't make it healthy. You're just ruining your veggies lol. There is a place in our current society for these places and it's definitely a personal choice.. but don't fool yourself about them. Your body will not thank you lol. Once in a while won't kill you, but don't label it healthy.. it's still junk. And fresh? Pssshhhh lol sure.
The very best thing about subway, in my opinion, is their sauces. If they would just give me the recipe to some of their sauces, I would not need to ever go back there again. Not that I go there regularly or even at all to begin with. But the few times I have been there, it was their sauces that enticed me. I can make my own salads and just drape the sauce over it.
Have you done a search yet? Pretty much every fast food menu item is duplicated online by now. Many even "healthified" to get the best of both worlds.
Oh. No, I didn't even know that this was possible. I thought they were all like KFC, purporting to keep their recipes a closely guarded secret. Not that my sister doesn't have a rice Krispie recipe for southern fried chicken that just blows KFC's recipe completely out of the water. The sauce from subway - I have no idea what it is called. My sister will know.
I'd just search "subway sauce recipe" or something.. I'm sure a lot will come up. And I've been seeing KFC recipes online for years lol. No such thing as secrets in the age of tech
There are tons of sauces. I spoke to my sister and I think she said that it ws called 'Onion sacue,' despite the fact that it tastes absolutely nothing like onions. But if you get a tuna sub with green and black olives on it, with that sauce? Let me tell you - it is pure heaven in your mouth And you have seen the kfc recipe? Not recipes, like the actual recipe that KFC uses?
Heaven is in the mouth of the beholder lol.. no death touches this tongue, missy lol. But yes, it's amazing what you can find online for "secret recipes". I've seen everything duplicated and it's been years since I saw all the KFC recipes, so I don't know if it's the actual recipe that's out there, but I do know many have sworn some of these recipes are spot on if not the real deal. It's all in the reviews...
I guess it is healthier than most fast foods. But it also depends on which sandwich you want to make. She went to add a lot of cream cheese, steak, their sauces are not very healthy. But if you want a simple chicken, or tuna sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, spinach and stuff like that, in a whole wheat or honey oat bread, that's pretty healthy.
