I use to enter sweepstakes a lot and was a member of a popular sweepstakes site. I have not entered in any sweepstakes in a long time. I won a 50" Dell Plasma television in 2005 with a retail of about $2,000. I also won a Bose radio about a year or so after that and somewhere in between I won a $100 gift card to an online computer store. I enjoyed entering sweepstakes but really enjoyed playing the instant wins. Has anyone else won anything considered pretty valuable?
I haven't won anything THAT expensive/valuable before. The most valuable for me was a rice cooker that was valued at $300 at the time. I never would've spent that much on one myself.
Not at all. I've always said I'm a jinx because on the rare occasion I win something, it's something I don't really want. If there is little competition, then I have a good chance of winning something obviously. There's not much competition for this contest I'm trying to win right now and I'm in the lead so hopefully I'm doing okay. I just wish they'd tell us when it was going to end. I get a little worried that someone's going to catch up.
No I haven't own anything substantial apart from a nice bed I won when I was very young and I guess my parent entered me into a contest of some sort. After that we never really won anything else. I win sometimes at the casino but I don't think that is the same thing. I also win sometimes in scratch off lotteries which I guess is the closest to sweepstakes. My friend's family does win a lot of these though, and I've always wondered how they do it.
Sounds like you had quite a bit of luck over the years. I think a lot of time the chances of winning are increased if you are participating in competitions or sweepstakes as many times as possible, obviously depending on how often you are allowed to enter. There are even people who have made it their job to do that sort of thing, and apparently it can work surprisingly well if you know what to look for. I have never won any products or holidays, but several larger amounts of money. I like buying scratch tickets whenever I get a certain feeling. Eight times out of ten, I win, usually only small amounts of cash, but from time to time there have also been more substantial amounts that came through.
I've won a weekend stay at a nice hotel for a New Year's Eve for participating in a contest they had on their Facebook page. It was pretty easy, just one of those "create a slogan" contests we see all the time, but the prize was very much worth it, I'm not even sure what the cash value would have been, but probably around $1500.
I always thought it was awesome checking out the winners posts on the sweepstakes forum I was a member of. People winning cars, huge vacations, and lots of money. Taxes will eat someone up though. I have a friend who won an all expenses paid vacation to Disney Land and a BRAND NEW Chevrolet Silverado truck a couple of years ago. The sponsor of the sweepstakes also provided gift cards of a certain amount to her whole family for a popular sporting goods store. Anyway, she ended up with a huge huge tax bill (like tens of thousands she says???) and her husband left her so she has to pay it all back herself. Sad stuff. I would love to win something like this. My husband and I usually stay in a hotel about once a month just for a mini get away. This would be so great! When the economy went south it seemed as if all the sweepstakes stopped giving as much for prizes. When that happened I just quit entering them but I'm considering entering some again. It's a lot of fun and you can't win if you don't play that's for sure. I like scratch off tickets too but the most I have ever won is 25 dollars.
I win small amounts of cash periodically on a website I frequent, I haven't won a boat, a TV or anything like that. I do admire people who have the dedication and discipline to enter every Sweepstakes known to man, law of averages dictates that you will come up big eventually...one day I may dedicate some time to that endeavor and see if I'm "lucky".
When I was in high school I won tickets and backstage passes for a band I liked. They were from Europe and not crazy popular so I have a feeling not many others entered. Other than that the biggest thing I've won is a 25 dollar gift card...nice but not that exciting
I guess it depends on what one sees as valuable. You could win something that costs very little money, yet it is priceless. In my case, I once did very well in secondary school. As a result we had a ceremony of sorts where all of the children who did well were celebrated. The smartest kid actually won an Ipod Nano, and the averagely talented students/teenagers were given other little things for their efforts. I happened to win a memory card that was worth four gigabytes, which REALLY comes in handy even to this day. Maybe not the most valuable thing, but priceless to me.
yes, i won some tickets to a dave matthews band concert a few years ago. i was very excited because they are my favorite band, so winning tickets to their concert was an exciting moment for me. off the top of my head, that's the only instance i can remember of me winning anything.
I haven't really won anything of big value, but I used to join those radio contests before and I won small prizes like shirts and promotional VCD's. Nowadays, I get jaded joining contests now because it is unlikely that I will actually win.
I have never won anything of value, it is just my terrible luck. I enter sweepstakes and I never get anything. Entering contests are pretty much the same story. I will be super confident that I will win and in the end... I just disappoint myself. Most of the time I skip these sweepstakes, I never win anything and I honestly don't think I will ever be motivated to do so. If it is a hassle-free entry, then I may consider it.
I wish I had more lucking winning things. I'm not really the type of person to enter to win many contests though. I'm cynical by nature. The fact that I have such a small chance at winning usually keeps me from entering most contests. Perhaps I should change that.
Is the website popular? I don't know if asking that is against the rules here or not but if you care to share I would be stoked to know which website it is. That's pretty neat! That would be a nice win! I bet you had fun. Also, gift cards are always great! I would like to win a shopping spree to one of my favorite stores..lol I love DMB too! I would have been super excited to win tickets to see them in concert. Was it a good show?
