For fruits it's tricky in a confined space, that's true, but for herbs there is no such problem because the space they occupy is minimal, so we can do it inside, on the outside or both. I recommend you to start with one herb you prefer and if you enjoy it start doing more.

Fresh herbs beat the dried ones completely! I have always used dried herbs and have always liked them, but I changed by opinion when I started using the fresh stuff! It's so good, and it's so easy to plant and grow. It also looks nice in your kitchen at the window.

Some herbs are not good fresh like parley, other like bay leaves can't be used fresh, they are way better dry. But with dry leaves ok, I can storage them easily, but the fresh ones are always better to be kept alive and free! :)

Yup. I like having the fresh plant. It's nice to just pick off what you need when you need it. Plus it keeps the kitchen looking and smelling so good!!

I've tried growing a bit of cilantro in my kitchen but I didn't have any success :(
I don't know whether other plants are easier to grow and I just started with the wrong one, but it's what I use the most so that's what I went for.
I tried it about twice before giving up on the idea.

It just has to do with your seeds and stuff. I have bought the little window garden herb garden kit things, and they didn't grow that well. Buying the more expensive seeds in the packet is a better idea. Or, you can look for a plant that has already been started...they don't generally cost much.

It has to do with many things, how did you tried to grow them Stryk? Sometimes the easier way is the best, just buy those small pots at the supermarket, they are already grown and it's just water them or if it becomes too big move them into a larger pot.

we always grow our own herbs. The best thing is, you need a very small amount of space to do it! we use small plastic boxes to grow ours and I think it always give you a small level of satisfaction knowing your eating what you made!

I've been wanting to do this for years now, but had hesitated to because I live in an apartment which doesn't get much sunlight. I know I could try to grow them out on my balcony instead, but I didn't want to be worried about the pots getting knocked over in bad weather or stuff like attracting bugs.

I tried growing some real houseplants in it, but they all died on me. However I was looking into one of indoor herb growing kits, that come with the plant light and are hydroponic. I'm just uncertain how easy they will be to maintain and clean, and what the overall expenses are going to be since the seed pods that go with it are rather expensive from what I've heard.

The fragrance of coriander/parsley is refreshing. My mom used to spray coriander seeds in our backyard to grow coriander plants and we regularly harvested it to sprinkle the leaves profusely on all dishes we prepared. Apart from coriander, she grew cayenne, Ivy gourd, lady fingers, and kale too. She absolutely loved the practice. The delight in her eyes had to be seen to be believed. She died a couple of years back.
