Yesterday, I went to Fry's Electronics to purchase a power cord. It was available online at Amazon and eBay. The shipping charges made the idea cost the a bit more. I usually would just buy it online because Fry's Electronics is a freaking nightmare and I'm very knowledgeable about computers.

I had to stand in front of the customer service computer to get help. Then I had two go to three departments just get a power cord.It wasn't with the other power cords. Most of the time, I can find what I need without any assistance.

Has anyone had any positive experience with Fry's Electronics?

Well, I've only been to Fry's a few times since there isn't one where I live (the closest one is in Sacramento which is about a 3 hour drive from where I live) but I've always had positive experiences every time I've gone there. The workers were very helpful with locating items and answering questions. I also didn't have to wait in line for long either even though I always stop by during the holiday season.

Well, I've never actually shopped at Fry's because it's mainly a West Coast store, but I'm shocked to hear your story. They normally get nothing but kind words and high praise from the customers that I read online. I'm actually shocked that they've been able to hang in there as most electronics chains have been shut down by Walmart and Target.

I like Fry's, but their layout of their store is confusing. It takes me a while to figure out where to go. I think they should have simple isles like Best Buy. Another thing I don't like about Fry's is their lighting is bad. It's so dark in there I don't know if it's just the store I went to, but I have been to other Fry's stores and it was the same thing. They have some really great deals on electronics, but I think they need a store make over.

I am glad that the Fry's near you is very helpful.

The Fry's in my area is notoriously known for its bad customer service. They will move you through the cashier line quickly. But getting help is like getting a tooth pulled. I avoid going there unless I need an item right way. I usually order online.

Fry's is the only major brick and mortar computer store around. You can find just about anything there. That's what so great about it. You can find anything to build your own computer to power cords. They also have very good prices. The customer service isn't great.

The Big Bang Theory did a spot where the Sheldon character goes to a computer store and ends up helping all the customers select the right products because there was no customer service. My friends and I all shouted that's Fry's!
