What are your thoughts on "Freemium" apps? A "freemium" app is any app that is free to download, but has in-app purchases. Two examples are The Simpsons Tapped Out and Candy Crush Saga. I personally feel like all they do is nickel and dime the user and nag you to buy stuff you often don't need.

For me it depends on how the freemium model is implemented. If the things I can buy with cash are purely cosmetic, like character skins or items skins, then all is fine. But if the items that can be bought with real cash give an advantage to the player buying, I avoid that game. League of Legends, an online arena game, offers nothing but character skins, characters or experience boosters for money and that's fine. If I don't want to spend anything and play for free I have the same advantages as a paying player, minus the cool skins.

That's how I look at it too in the grand scheme of things. You should never be forced to buy something just to advance further in the game or give you an advantage you couldn't normally get by playing. If you're going to do that, you might as well just charge to get the app in the first place. Unfortunately, this "pay to win" seems to be becoming more and more popular.
