Every time I go grocery shopping I notice that some other food item's price has gone up. It's starting to get really ridiculous. It's making me get more into looking for deals and coupons. I've always looked for a good deal, but I've never felt bad when I had to just run in and get something without checking some prices first. They seem to be going up every single day! The healthy foods are the worst when it comes to price. It's sad when you can take your family out to eat (at a place with sensible prices, of course) and pay less than you would have paid getting all the food from the store!

I have actually noticed a slight decrease in food prices for basic produce like butter and minced beef in recent months. The price for mince beef has gone down in a number of supermarkets. Maybe the supermarkets are responding or maybe the market cost of delivering the product has gone down, I welcome it either way.

I have also noticed that food prices are increasing on what seems like a month to month basis at times. I know that my local grocer only keeps prices stagnant or "as advertised" for a week. Saturday night is the last opportunity to get the prices where they are advertised. I have noticed the cost of organic food rising. Random things like butter, yogurt, cookies, crackers and baking supplies have all recently gone up in price at the market that I patronize.

Food prices have definitely gone up out here as well. I live in Alabama, and I have already almost stopped buying meat because it costs so much now. Rather than it being a main part of the meal, meat is now a small part, and used for flavoring a meal instead of a main course .
Not only are prices going up, sizes of containers of food are getting smaller. What used to be a pound of something is now only 12 oz instead. Not just flour and sugar, but many things are now in a smaller size can or package.
Some of the problem is because there have been an extreme amounts of both droughts and floods this year and last year both, and with the crop failures, prices are always going to go up.
Of course, the gas prices going up doesn't help either, and diesel for trucks plays a large part in the shipping costs .
I really don't look for this to get any better either. Neither the climate or the fuel situation seems to be getting better.

That sounds really expensive. Where are you located? Here in NE Ohio, you can get a plain old pack of bacon for about $3-$4. It only gets a little more expensive if you go with the brand name stuff, and get the thicker center cut bacon. If you were shopping at Whole Foods, forget it, all their stuff is ridiculously overpriced. What's more annoying is I've seen some products at other stores which are apparently manufactured by the same company that makes the Whole Foods store brand products, and they are literally dollars cheaper per item.
