Getting professional manicures is expensive enough as it is, but what about when one nail chips or peels too soon?

Is there a way to somewhat "repair" gel nails to extend their life any? Regular polish won't stick to it, but getting gel equipment is expensive and doesn't seem to work as well at home as the stuff at professional salons does. Any tips?

You need to file the entire nail so that there is something the new coat can adhere too. Then you have to re-bond it, or paint it with the gel again. You can first 'fill in' the hole or chip and then after it is dried (it might take a couple thin layers before you're ready) you can put a final coat of gel bond over the entire nail again. If you didn't purchase the color than you might have to go back to the salon. When I chip a nail and can't properly repair it, I try to find a color of polish that is similar so that from a distance it doesn't look any different, but if you were to look up close you can tell somethings missing.
