What's interesting is that I nver shop at old navy because I find them to be overpriced, haha! Why pay eight dollars for a tank top when you can get a similar one in style and quality from a local retailer for three or four dollars?
I never even step into Old Navy. They definitely have one of the cheapest quality apparel I've seen. It's all very shapeless, cheap materials. I think the only time I may have went in there was when I was on a trip in a rural area and I needed a white undershirt camisole. Otherwise, I stay away.
Oh I would never pay full price there anyway. If you shop their clearances or when they have sales going, you can get those same tank tops for only a couple bucks, so it's still worth checking occasionally.
Like a few others have mentioned, I haven't really purchased much from there recently. However, I have bought flip-flops from them in the past, and found they lasted the same amount of time as majority of the competitive brands out there. So no major complaints there. However, in general I haven't found a lot of clothing items I particularly like from them regardless. I much prefer Joe Fresh, I think the quality is a little better and they have reasonable prices.
I have never had any problems with any of the items I have purchased from Old Navy. I get all of my children's school uniforms from there any they're all in perfect condition.
Back in the early 2000s, Old Navy clothes weren't that bad. I remember having some sweaters from there and they lasted a long time. I used to LOVE Old Navy, but I haven't been there for years. Since it seems their clothes are ultra cheap and flimsy, I will not be buying any clothes from there. However, I'm sure their prices are still too high considering the quality of the clothing. Seems like you could purchase the same (or better) quality of clothes from Walmart at a cheaper price - not that I'll be doing that either!
Things surely have changed with Old Navy. There was a small part of time where their stuff was top notch quality along with Banana Republic. How they've fallen so far down I'll never know.
I've found that for the money, Aeropostale is the best brand if you're on a budget and looking for quality. Beware though, that their sizes do run smaller. In most other brands, I wear one size, but in Aeropostale, I'm always having to buy at least one size bigger. They always have really good sales, though. Especially right before school starts.
I don't mind Old Navy. There are many places that I would RATHER shop, but I would go to Old Navy. Their clothes are not quality, but I don't buy "quality" clothes at mainstream places anyway. I go to Banana Republic or Gap for the "good" clothes.
I'd put Old Navy a notch below the Gap. They have great deals sometimes, but you have to be aware that you often get what you pay for. It's a great store for T-shirts and shorts and beach clothing, but I am not fond of it for more dressy stuff like polos and button downs. I do miss the old commercials with Carrie Donnovan and that dog, Magic. "Magic, this is first class!" "Step on it, Magic! First sight to sales!"
The gap is owned by the same company as Old Navy. And it does not surprise me that Old Navy is producing clothes that are worse in quality since I heard that Gap is doing the same thing. I used to think Gap was a lot better then Old Navy, but now it seems both are pretty bad.
I haven't been to Old Navy in a long time. The mall near me doesn't have one and I don't make a special trip to go to another one just for them. I did used to like them. Not a lot, but I found things here and there. I know the last few times I went, years ago, I didn't find anything at all. So I guess I'm not surprised they have gone down in quality. They are at the worst malls in my area. We have 5 around my area. One I would never want to shop at it's so run down, and Old Navy is there and at the second oldest mall.
You can thank China for that. While you're at it, thank our government and their strict regulations. That's the main reason businesses do a lot of their product creation overseas.
I couldn't agree more. I used to love aeropostale sweaters and t shirts, but recently bought a whole bunch of workout tanks and they litterally fell apart in the washing machine. I refuse to think that my sweat acts as highly corrosive bleach. not only that they stained my other clothes pretty bad too
Can't say that I have had any issues with Old Navy clothing. Their styles don't often appeal to me, but, when I find something I like, it does tend to last.
Old Navy does offer some good deals, but I absolutely agree their clothes don't last and they aren't the only ones. I shopped H&M for the first time this weekend and thought the same thing about their clothes. When I buy clothes at these discounted rates, I don't expect them to last much more than one season. I had always thought Kohls clothes held up for a few years, but even there I think the clothes have become very cheaply made.
I find it kind of hit or miss. I have some things I have bought from Old Navy that I am still wearing 4+ years later and it still looks great but then I have had some things I bought that fall apart or look years old after one wash. I find I really like their kid's clothes, womens skirts and yoga pants and sometimes dresses as well. Tshirts are almost always just throwing money down the drain.
Ok but the store is called OLD NAVY. That alone should be a sign that the clothes you're getting aren't the best quality. OLD NAVY sounds like a hand-me-down parlor rather than a great shop. Now THE GAP has a better ring to it.
I would never buy anything from Old Navy. It's like throwing money away and the clothes are never flattering, ever.
But if someone gave you an OLD NAVY giftcard with a value of like $100 or so , you'd totally spend it...right?
