In the spirit of "free condiments" you'll get a lot more pop for your money if you ask for easy ice or no ice. Fast food and sit down restaurants don't fill ice up to the top just so you'll have an icy drink, it also saves them a considerable amount of money. I'm sometimes tempted to ask for no ice out of health concerns (I've read studies and articles about the quality of the water used to make ice and it can be questionable) but I do love cold drinks!
I have seen this before somewhere, and I always forget to ask when we go out. Maybe someday I'll start remembering. Especially for my daughter who likes to stick her whole hand in the glass to pull the ice cubes out...
