I come from the tropics and have a garden located no a steep gradient
and manual irrigation has proven to be a challenge. I am planning to
plant high value drought resistant crops like cassava. They are not
easily attacked by pests and require little water and other inputs.
Anyone ventured into this area of gardening?

I had some exotic edibles growing in my garden too. it is easier for me to raise yam over potatoes. I also have dragon fruit and prickly pairs. Those edible cactus plants have edible fruits and leaves and they don't need much water.
