If I go shopping when I am hungry I may spend more, if I have it to spend. If not then I may go off list and buy some unhealthy choices I normally do not indulge in. I have a tendency to justify buying things just because they are on sale, or I have a coupon for it(or even better, both!). I do try and make it a general rule not to go shopping if I am hungry, and if I do I make sure I eat a small protein filled snack first to quickly quell that hunger. It definitely might save you from hungry impulse buys, and thus save you a few dollars!
Yes, I've shopped while hungry and ended up buying fried chicken from the deli and one of those overpriced $2 bottled sodas that Walmart keeps next to the register. It's not a good idea to shop while hungry.
It definitely does! Many of our favorite snacks and unnecessary products look so inviting and appetizing that it is difficult to avoid them. You make up little excuses to yourself why it is okay to buy it that one time even though you do not need them. I also justify many of my purchases with the use of coupons and discounts. Honestly, it has cost me a lot. I wasted too much money doing this. I try to stick to my list anymore even if I am hungry. I know if I slip once then I am bound to continue filling up my cart with loads of goodies.
I used to do this all the time - go to the supermarket when I was hungry and end up spending money on non-essentials to eat on the go. These days, I go after my lunch and never deviate from my list. Otherwise, I end up buying a pastry, a sandwichor some hot chicken, then of course, a drink to wash it all down with.
