I do like eating junk food even though I know it is not good for me. Although lately I have been good on how much junk I buy. Not only is it good on the wallet but it is good on the waist line! Why does junk food have to be so delicious? It would really suck to have to lose weight because of it.
When it comes to buying food, I make my decision based on taste, nor in nutrients. I know junk food might be poor in nutrients or have none, or have undesirable fats and even chemical preservers, but if something is of my liking, I would privilege my taste because, ultimately, if you do not eat healthy, there is always the option to get dietary supplements to get the missing nutrients body needs.
I buy junk food when I'm on the go, that's pretty much it. I will give credit to the whole industry because it really, really helps me when I'm in a hurry and don't really have time to prepare my own food, so I just go at the near grocery store and buy some junk food. That's very convenient! Of course it's not good to eat them each day. I usually find myself incapable of preparing my own food very rarely, probably each 2 months, so I guess I'm fine given I have quite of an active life.
I agree with you about sugar. It is addictive as well as being terrible for us. I'd go so far as to say carbs -bad carbs- in general. I think the second culprit is salt. It's fairly addicting too. Both are terrible in high quantities. I guess it all goes back to practicing moderation. A small treat should be just that... small and on rare occasions. Otherwise, we end up hurting ourselves rather than treating ourselves.
Yup! I can't seem to get over my love for junk food despite knowing its negative effects to my health. I do exercise though to get rid of the extra carbs, saturated fat, excessive salt, but despite that, I know that I really need to cut off junk food from my life if I want to achieve the lifestyle that I want.
If one absolutely cannot survive without sugar, than I would suggest natural more healthy alternatives such as organic honey. stevia, or blackstrapp molasses, which the latter is what I have been using for the last few months. I was itching all over, and went to the doctors to find out what the issue was. They could not and were unwilling to find out why. After I cut out sugar and started to eat organically, the itching has stopped. I ate Mcdonald's for the first time in forever today, and the itching started back up again. It could be the carbs, since carbs will convert to glucose in the body, which is sugar right? Or am I incorrect about that?
Yeah, that's what I mean about carbs - how they raise your blood sugar. Then, when it comes down and you "crash," you crave more sugar. It becomes a vicious circle. McDonald's is just not good any more, in my opinion. My kids still like it, but I don't. Even if I pick up something for them, I can't even stand the smell of it. You may also be experiencing a reaction to the so-called "healthy" oil that fast food joints use these days, but either way, it doesn't sound good. Like you, I would avoid it.
Oh ok It can be awful. So many people look down on addicts of other afflictions, but nobody says anything about sugar lol. Our conditioning can be very compartmentalized. I have known that McDonald's food is awful for years now, and I never really eat it. I was desperate yesterday though, and so I ate it. The fries were lovely. The burger not so much, but my mother bought it for me out of the goodness of her heart, and I was hungry, so I ate it. But paid the price afterwards, and it was just more information that McDonald's food does not deserve to inhabit my body lol. Healthy oil? I have not heard about that.
Everyone knows junk food isn't good for your health, but many people still buy it. That is why you shouldn't eat it in large amounts. I eat junk food when I have a major craving for something unhealthy.
Yes, I buy junk food because potato chips and ice cream are delicious. If celery tasted delicious ,I would buy it. Actually, there are a lot of healthy foods that I genuinely like but I also buy junk food because I enjoy it. I don't really care whether it has nutrients because I get nutrients from other foods that I eat. Junk food isn't my entire diet, just part of it ,so I'm not really worried about whether there are vitamins in it or not.
People's definitions of what constitutes "junk food" also can vary quite a bit. I wouldn't consider regular pasta junk food, but someone else might shutter at the thought of consuming it in lieu of whole grain pasta or some sort of low carb pasta substitute such as shredded spaghetti squash or shredded zucchini. Same goes for pizza - I get these cheap frozen pizzas at Save-A-Lot, but they're really not that bad in terms of nutritional value, especially if you get the ones loaded with veggies. The crust isn't too thick, and it's a dry crust, not greasy at all. The only "bad" thing on it really is the cheese, which it's not really loaded with that either. Frozen fries are another one - they're not deep fried in oil, I'm simply baking them. And some studies have shown that potatoes are actually good for you because they help you feel fuller and more satiated from your meal, which can help curb additional snacking in between meals.
I agree that both junk and healthy foods have their role to play when in balance or when they are being eaten in a healthy proportion to one another. But we also have to factor in the fact that most people are addicted to sugar and do not even know it. They think they enjoy the crappy foods because it tastes good, unaware of the fact that they are feeding their addiction, and that the addiction is a large part of the pull that they feel towards eating the junk.
Sometimes it's difficult to totally eliminate junk food. You may be on the move and just have to have a filler because the situation does not allow u to have the really nutritious food at that time. However, If you have it in moderation, I don't see it as a big problem. Having A good fitness regime should eliminate any possible negative effect from moderate junk food consumption.
Junk foods take a big part of my life back then. I used to buy loads and loads of: Cheetos Lays Pik-Nik Ruffles Doritos I mean, in big packs and I can finish them in one sitting. Now, I still buy them sometimes or I get them as gifts and eat them. But I cannot manage to finish those big packs in one sitting now! I guess I'm knowledgeable now about their damages to health and so I cannot eat them all up.
I do and what's horrible is that I know it's bad but it's just so darn delicious that I eat it anyway! I really do want to try to be healthier though and I need to be. I just have very low will power when it comes to what I eat. I always crazy what's bad for me.
Sometimes there isn't anything else to buy, and in this cases yes I will choose to buy some junk food sometimes. However, it is often not really the best choice, so you have to be careful about what you're eating. And make sure that you're not eating junk food too often, as it isn't good for you in the slightest. I try to keep it down to a couple of times per month, and I will only really eat it if I know that there is nothing better for me to eat in the house at that time.
