Yeah, it affects most people in one way or another. I'd be lying if I said I were sad you had to go without now The stripper look totally works for you.. somehow you make it look way more.. not... strippy? haha
I like to make tea and coffee at home. It's more a financial savings thing that flavour. I do love a Tim Horton's decaf coffee every once and while. It's a real treat if we stop for a coffee. I figure you save over $20 - 30 a month if you drink tea and coffee at home which adds up to a lot of money over the years. I find coffee shop tea too weak and I like the way I make it at home. I think tea tastes better in a mug or tea cup than a paper cup.
I make my coffee at home almost all the time. I do ocassionally buy coffee out, if I am out for breakfast or as a special treat. I wanted to buy Starbucks today though, and I will get it at some point. I want to try the Pumpkin Spice Latte. There are no nearby coffeeshops here anyway.
When I was drinking coffee more regularly, I would definitely buy my own beans and grind them and make it at home. There was no way I was paying like $3.50 a cup for coffee - that's practically what I would pay for a cocktail at a dive bar, and there's not even any liquor in it. The thing you need to watch out for though is you can still end up dropping a lot of money on coffee each month if you aren't careful. Those beans cost around $10-$12 a bag, and unless you're drinking the entire pot each time you make some, you're often dumping a lot of that coffee down the drain because it goes bad before you can finish it. I've tried brewing half pots, but they never seem to taste the same as when I brew a full pot. Also, if your coffee pot comes with some sort of charcoal filter, I would just ditch it. Those things barely do anything to make the coffee taste better, and they're just another expense each month.
@ohiotom76 I usually keep a single cup (marketed as a 3-cup) french press on hand for when I have more expensive coffee beans/ground beans. That way, nothing goes to waste, and I can save money. I don't need to sit and drink 3 cups of really good coffee. Everyday coffee suffices for waking me up, but if I'm going to drink a really good cup of coffee or tea, I want to be awake for it, so I can enjoy the flavor and aroma, rather than guzzling it down to wake myself up. Speaking of saving money on treats, someone gave me a $10 Starbucks card yesterday. I don't have a free standing Starbucks that close to where I live, but there is one inside of Super Target, and I am over that way sometimes, so will probably take advantage of that soon.
ohiotom76 - If you enjoy drinking good quality coffee - one of the best ways of making sure that none goes to waste - would be to make coffee the way we do where I live - in one of these as not only do these stove top coffee pots save money - which as they come in every size imaginable - means you are only making the number of cups required - but they make amazingly good coffee with very little effort too. In fact - now that you've got me thinking of left over coffee - although this would be a rare thing in my house - there really isn't any need for it to get wasted - especially as it freezes really well - ready to be drunk as iced coffee at a later date or even used in baking or added to smoothies and of course the grounds can either be added to the compost or made into fertilizer.
At home and at work 99% of the time. I rarely go to coffee shops and if I go to Starbucks for example I order a frappuccino or chai latte. I drink coffee mostly at work, and tea I drink both at work and at home.
I used to buy coffee, tea or hot chocolate when it was not trendy and it could be purchased directly from a vending machine anywhere, not really at a coffee shop. However when Gloria Jeans, Starbucks and many other came into the scene, I was not longer into buying coffee, and practically have never bought any beverage from any of them because while I have tasted almost all what they serve, there has been always a friend or family member inviting and paying for it. Only place I used to pay for coffee was at McDonalds/Burger King when I worked at an office and this was my daily breakfast stop, but then it was not just coffee, but also hot cakes and else. Actually I wouldn't buy coffee anyway because in the long run is too expensive, and nowadays I enjoy brewing my own coffee at home and have a selection of instant and ground coffees and flavors to make my own gourmet mixing
This thread reminds me of my former colleague named Don. We have coffee in the office, free for everyone, and it has sugar and creamer too. Don is a coffee drinker and I normally see him have coffee 2 times before lunch. And when we take a mid-afternoon snack in the office canteen, he would order coffee and not eat anything. He said it's nice to chat while sipping coffee. Take note, coffee is free in our office but not in the canteen, huh.
I prefer to make my coffee and tea at home because it is more affordable and also I can decide how strong and sweet it can be. Sometimes when going out with friends or family I cannot avoid buying in coffee shops while hanging out and talking things over coffee. But this seldom happens because I find coffee in coffee shops really expensive, but it tastes really good. Making your own beverage is more cost effective and you also have the freedoms as to how it will taste and come out, but if I will have some gathering or just a casual meet up with friends in a coffee shop, I am still okay with buying coffee as long as it tastes good and make the conversations with my friends more pleasant, over a nice cup of coffee.
I prefer to make my own coffee and tea at home. However, if I am at work or on the run then I definitely love to stop at Starbucks and get a delicious white mocha there.
Tea I don't really like getting from anywhere as I prefer my own. I have a very specific way of making it so that it's nice and strong and not many people can get it right. I have filter coffee at home, but luckily I have access to some really good cafes, which make some of the best filter coffee. So I often have it when I'm out and about. I just wish that we had Costa and Starbucks here **deep sigh**
I'm not a coffee drink, but I love tea. I start my day with a cup or two of tea. I will go to a tea shop for specialty teas that I don't make. I will drink tea and a Chai Latte at Starbucks or Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, but it's more to get away from my apartment and to use the free wi-fi. Drinking a hot Chai Latte and a slice of banana bread is a relatively cheap way to treat myself.
I am not a coffee drinker as I never liked how it tasted. But, I do love sweet tea. In the south, we drink ice tea all day long in the summertime. I do not make good ice tea so I order it whenever I eat out.
Since I drink coffee everyday, I make it at home. Sometimes I go to coffee shops with my friends, but for my daily routine I just make it at home. During winter though I like going to coffee shops to taste the many seasonal flavors they put out. Plus I always go to Starbucks when I feel like having a peppermint hot chocolate. I love peppermint hot chocolate, but I haven't mastered the art of making it at home so until then, I'll keep visiting Starbucks for it lol.
