Do you like to read for pleasure? Why or why not? What kinds of books do you most like to read? I tend to read fiction most often. It's hard to specifically categorize the books I read (not romance or mystery or fantasy - I guess I would call them literary fiction) But I did just read a nonfiction book that I liked - Krakatoa, about the explosion of the volcano. Has anyone else read it? What have you read most recently and would you recommend it?

I absolutely love to read. I read all the time. Many times, I am reading two books or book series at a time. I think reading is an adventure. I love when I get drawn into a book, and I cannot put it down. I know the ending won't change, but I just have to know what happens.

I read all genres. I love historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, and suspense. Also, I love the classics. I do not like to read romance novels though. Yuck!

Haha, I agree with you about romance novels - way too cheesy! I've never been very good at reading more than one book at a time. I don't think I confuse the plotlines or anything, I think I just like to focus on one until it's done. And if I'm excited about the next book on my pile it can get me through a so-so book. Maybe if I read more nonfiction, it'll be easier to have 2 books going at once. Do you have different books for different places - like one for reading during the day, and one for in bed before you go to sleep? I might try that.

I have always been a book worm, reading everything from fiction to DIY books. As I grew older, I started losing interest in novels, fiction and non-fiction, but got more fascinated with technical books. These days I love reading about things that I am not familiar with, such as how certain machines work or, on a more practical level, how to make useful things for everyday life.

I am not much of a reader. I used to read fiction books, at least a few a week, but now I read so much at work (unfortunately not books but documents) that at the end of the day I would rather relax and listen to music instead of reading. I do occasionally page through a magazine but it's not the same as a book.

I used to read all the time. I was said to even pick up a book as a toddler before I even knew how. For a while in school, I would be the first to raise my hand to read aloud to the class. I don't read books really anymore, even in the bathroom it's a rare occasion. When I was reading regularly, I also didn't like to read more than one book in a time. I just get too involved with other things these days and not quite as into reading regular books as I used to.

I love to read for pleasure, but I haven't read most of the books I've bought lately because of work and money problems. I have to be relaxed and have free time to get lost in a good book and it's been a long time since I had free time to read.

I do like to read though I haven't been reading as much as I used to or that I would like to now. I use to really be into reading fiction, and getting lost in another world and someone else's life but in recent years I've been more into reading non fiction especially biographies. I really enjoy reading about the struggles in other people's lives and how they over came them.

I've recently just been getting into it and I agree that it's so much fun. I'm starting out with the. Classics and moving my way up towards modern pieces, and I have to admit I'm having a bit if trouble with some of the really old ones because language seems to be a lot more different back then, which is understandable, but thankfully, I'm still able to keep up somewhat.

I only read books that are related to my interests, like astrology or new age stuff, since I lost interest reading fiction books. I used to read them when I was younger, but ever since video games and the internet became popular, I never got into reading books again. I now think that surfing the net is way better than reading, since I get to read varied stuff as compared to being stuck reading a book that only has a single subject or story.

Yes, i do love to read. It almost have a therapeutic effect on me. I love to get lost into the world and the characters of the story I'm reading. When i was a little younger, i mostly just read fiction and fantasy stories, typical choice of a teenager. But as years passed, my taste in everything changes including books. Now, i'm into psychological thrillers. I'm currently reading Shutter Island. I've seen the movie first and now I'm reading the book. Kind of backwards because normally, people read the book first then watch the movie after, but in my case, I've seen the movie long before I've become interested in psycho thrillers so i just have to deal with it. :(
