I do typically eat canned soup. My parents don't make anything homemade really. My grandma used to do that. She would make the best soups, better than from a can and I would eat them all the time. Now I usually only try to eat tomato soup, because soup is actually not that good if it's from a can because of all the sodium. I try my best to stay away from all that since I try to eat fairly healthy. So, while I do eat canned soup, I would rather have it homemade.
Yes, I eat them regularly, they can be stored easily, they are quite convenient, and I happen to love the taste. I am not talking about a single portion canned soup that you can microwave. Those individual canned soups are so expensive it's not even worth it. I prefer the ones in big cans that you can cook a large portion of it and store it later for dinner.
Only as a last resort. There are a couple of varieties which I like but I'm not too keen on soup as a whole so I just keep a couple of inexpensive tins in the kitchen cupboard in case of emergency.
Canned soup is a great back-up food. On those days you are just too lazy to cook a $2 can of soup and a sandwich is a cheap and easy filler up!
Canned soups can definitely vary in quality. I am personally a fan of most brands and can eat the cheaper Cambells kind. But I also enjoy the fancier Progresso soups as well. Some of them are delicious and perfect for lazy meals.
I've only had them when my aunt and uncle would send them from the US. Canned soups aren't really that famous where I'm from so it's not usual to eat them regularly. We'd use canned mushroom soup and make it as cream sauce for different types of dishes, though. But eating canned soups straight out of the cans regularly isn't our thing. And I do avoid consuming it regularly as well.
I don't really eat too many soups on their own but I do like to cook with different types. The staples in my pantry are basic chicken broth, Cream of Mushroom, and Cream of Chicken.
I'm not the biggest fan of canned foods but I do use them from time to time when cooking, especially canned tomatoes and beans because they're just so convenient. My boyfriend, however, LOVES eating canned soups and stuff.
I prefer home made soup which I make from the leftovers we had during the week. Making homemade soup is a good way to use up leftovers. The canned soup I do eat is usually vegetable or chicken noodle soup.
