I figured why not make a off topic about these Holidays since both of them are coming up soon. If you were to ask me this question when I was a kid, I would of replied without even really thinking and yelled out, "Halloween!". Basically, for the candy and awesome costumes. Now though, my whole opinion has changed. My favorite holiday is Christmas. Why? Because it's actually a time were you get to see all of your loved ones. Cherish the moment together. Don't get me wrong, it's a blast to open presents and get new things. But for me, the main part is Family. Will always be my favorite Holiday.

So tell me, which one would you pick? :)

I would have to go with Halloween it's a fun time for me and my kids. Christmas use to be my favorite but now a days it seems like the whole idea of spending time with loved ones getting together eating good food it's gone away. Now it's all about how much money is being spent and how many gifts will they get.

I would have to go with Christmas just because of how warm and beautiful everything is. I just love that Christmas morning feeling when the whole house is decorated with red and green and it's sparkling white snow outside. There is just something about the feel and look that u can't pass up.

Halloween is too spooky for me, while Christmas is a whole lot comfy and always brings good memories. Also, it's the time of snow, which i really like.

I like both, but I like Halloween the best. Mainly because I get to see people dressed up in different costumes. I also get to give out candy to the kids. The one thing about Halloween I like is the fact that you can wear something crazy and not have people look at you funny. I see lots of weird and amazing costumes during this holiday, and that is what makes it so interesting.

Oh no, the answer to this is Halloween. For me that can be no other way. Though I do agree with your sentiments of being with family, Halloween can become a family occasion with time. Having a Halloween party helps bring the extended family over.
I have found Christmas to be more than commercialized. Come on now? The holiday itself has someone at the helm created by Coca-Cola (image of Santa Claus not lore of St. Nick). Now, let's not minimize the fact that all holidays have been commercialized BUT I will feel the same about Halloween when Pepsi creates Ghost-o-saur the dinosaur/ghost hybrid of harvest time. I know that Christmas is supposed to bring you a holiday feeling of wonder & glee but I feel Halloween does the same. Nature itself changes & the smell of October is something that has always put a smile on my face. I am not trying to convert anyone (*whispers* conveeeert) but what Christmas has over Halloween really lies in the faith that surrounds the holiday season. That is the one thing I cannot argue with. Faith moves mountains and, sometimes, causes you to choose Christmas over Halloween.

I pick Christmas for sure! Halloween to me is just a date, but Christmas is different, there is something magical about it, so year after year I find myself craving for Christmas time, I get so excited around that time!!

I couldn't care less about the commercialism... the holidays are what you make it, nothing more nothing less. if it's too commercialized, it's because you're letting it. I absolutely adooooooore Christmas! Can't stand the whole religious debates that come around that time (nobody owns Christmas anymore.. high horses need not apply), but again, it's what I make it and in my offline life, it just doesn't happen. Secular, religious, commercial, whatever... the vibe is peace :)

If only the world were so simplistic. A peaceful time is had regardless of religious belief. Once the question turns to why the time exists I feel we have a different discussion. So, though it is easier for me to say peace & love to all & to all a good night. I have to defer from the course. The truth is the season of CHRIST-MASS i.e. Christmas has a lot to do with faith. More so than we care to admit.

I agree! There is something special about Christmas season because the atmosphere and the feeling, which is a happy kind of feeling. Plus, I love to go shopping during the Christmas time.

I like both holidays! I don't think I would ever pick one. I do however wish that they wouldn't put all the christmas stuff out in the store until Halloween was over! ALso, like where is Thanksgiving with all this? I love thanksgiving! It's such a wonderful excuse to get together with family and not have gifts. Don't get me wrong I love both giving and getting presents, but I almost enjoy my family time more without presents. I find it more enjoyable to just bring a dish to the table and have a good time and not worry about finding that perfect present!

Halloween. Definitely halloween. We don't celebrate Christmas here, so because I don't get gifts on that day, I have no reason to prefer it over Halloween which sounds a lot more fun.

If you want to go that route, it won't take you to jesus. That's why I say it doesn't belong to anyone anymore. For you, it's about jesus.. but it didn't start there. For me, it is about family and love, because that's what I was born into it, just as you were born into yours. Before both our traditions were others as it was "borrowed" to suit the christians and gain more followers. Evolution means changing with the times.. Christmas is many things and not at all as it started.

I like Christmas the most out of the 2 because:

I get to spend time with my loved ones.
I enjoy looking at the surprised faces when I give them gifts and they open it.
I like watching the Christmas special movies and listening to the music.
I like how the city gets all ramped up around that time of year and everything feels calm and magical.
I like the fact that there is no school during the Holidays and I am free.

There are so many things that I like about Christmas. :D

We do not celebrate Halloween. We go to a fall party, but we do not dress up and ask for candy. I don't give out candy either. So for me, I think Christmas is the best holiday! It is a day to remember my Savior's birth, spend time with family, and cherish the blessings in my life.

Wow, tough question. I think Halloween is more fun while Christmas is more stressful. I love both holidays, however considering money, decorations, and just plain fun, I choose Halloween. I love autumn and watching the leaves fall, the smell of wood burning fires, haunted houses and scary movies, no stress really, just picking out the perfect costume. Getting creative with it, yup, Halloween over Christmas.

I like Halloween more. Most other holidays are bright and happy but Halloween is dark. Giving and receiving gifts is kind of awkward and stressful to me and I don't like how shopping focused Christmas is. Halloween is just more fun to me.

To pick between these two holidays is difficult since they are both so very different. I would definitely choose Xmas since you get time off work and if you have kids they will be off from school. It's definitely family time and it's just something about that season that make you feel good.

Definitely Christmas! Where I live we don't celebrate Halloween as much as in the US. But even if we did, I would still prefer Christmas. I love getting together with my whole family, having meals all together, giving each other gifts, drinking champagne and just hanging out and having fun. It's my absolute favorite holiday of all, it's so special and I get so happy when Christmas is getting near!
