Clearance items are definitely a great way to get a good deal. When shopping for clothes and shoes, I have encountered defects in some of them, but only a small amount of them. I would always recommend you try it on and examine it before you buy. This goes especially true for shoes. I put on a pair of shoes on clearance, and there was a part inside the shoes that made my foot uncomfortable. I was really sad to see the deal go, but it was a good thing that I checked because I would have wasted money on something I would have never used.
I love clearance racks. My two favorites are probably CVS and Kohls. Just this past week I got a glass topped table to put beside my couch for $3.75. In the past, I have gotten GREAT things at Kohls on clearance. Two of my favorites were a sweater for $3 and a comforter for $12. You can also catch some good things in the clearance section of Kohls.com. You have to be fast there though as things go quickly.
I don't regularly go to the mall. But when I do, I make sure that I go to the clearance or on sale items first. Usually, these items are those that are off-season or broken sizes, so they are very cheap. I buy those that I need or will use in the foreseeable future because they are worth every penny. Likewise, I store them just in case I need to give someone a gift for his or her birthday and other special celebrations such as Christmas Day. What I like buying from clearance stores are clothes, shoes, and bath products. It's also very exciting when things are on sale!
I like so many others, like shopping for clothes on clearance. Especially my infant daughter's clothes because I can find brand new things for a dollar. I've notice they often have a lot ofnice toys on clearance too just to make room for new types of the same things.
In supermarkets is where I head straight to the clearance section, this is because sometimes I can't decide what to buy and the clearance section usually decides it for me, if there are still items that look good, aside from being a tad too close to the 'best before' date. Or, occasionally you see electrical items being on the clearance shelf because they have been opened for display and the that is the last one in stock. That particular item is mostly quite a good deal, if you can handle the box being opened that is, as most shops still honor the warranty on the item.
I almost always check out the clearance stuff first, regardless of what store I'm going to. Even for stores that have good prices overall, it's beneficial to see what their absolute best deals are at the time.
