I am a frugal person but not with food items especially fruits and vegetables. Regardless of the cost, I go for quality. We don't buy over-ripe bananas because the blackish color means bacteria is already starting to set in. Likewise with mango, it's not good to buy when the skin has black spots because it can be the egg of insects. What we do is to buy good quality fruits in season because they are cheap so there's no need to buy over-ripe fruits.

Over here, we also spend around only $5 to $6 on food, since my dad doesn't cook food anymore so he just buys them. I can cut it down to $2 or $3 since I buy canned goods, since it's cheaper.
