I do this occasionally. Often if I find something on Amazon that I like I will check Best Buy's website to see if they have it in stock, compare the prices, and go to the store to take a look at it if I need to. I have occasionally found a better deal at Best Buy during their sales, although it's very rare. I usually trust the reviews on Amazon if there are a lot of them, so most of the time I don't even have to go to Best Buy to look at it if it's highly rated.
I honestly think that Amazon is way better. Best Buy is way overpriced and they have terrible service.
I think that this is a perfect example of modern consumerism. People are willing to pay extra just to have the item immediately versus waiting a few days to a week and saving a lot of money. TO be honest though, if you aren't worrying about save money or it means that much to the individual then I honestly don't see a problem in it.
I am an Amazon shopper through and through. Sales people in a store can make items sound so appealing and high quality, but you never know what the reviews are on a product until you get online. I typically know what type of product I want, but not sure what brand. Amazon has so many helpful reviews, that I find it much more appealing that trying to convince a sales person I don't need a certain product they are trying to pressure me to buy. I do not mind waiting a few days for an item to arrive, especially if I know it's what I want and I get it at a cheaper price.
I like to see the physical item when I need to purchase something. I will shop online and offline to get an idea of what I need, but it does depend on the price of the item where I will actually get it and if I need it right now it will have to be at the local store.
I have also read that people do go to best buy to look, but buy online, so it seems that some people do this. I am loyal to Amazon, but lately have been shopping online at Bestbuy as well. I have read some of the negative reviews, but I think they're getting a bum rap. My experience with Best Buy has been stellar and often they have been very competitive with Amazon. These days, I always price check with Best Buy and go with them if they have the best price. They often have coupon codes and cashback bonuses, items can be returned in stores, and they have a good return policy. So, as much as I love Amazon, Best Buy is right up there with them.
I use both but it completely depends on the item. If it's a big item then I'd prefer to go to Best Buy because I can pick it up that way AND I can know it's been transported safely to my house. But with little stuff it's almost exclusively Amazon for me, the selection and prices just tend to be far more appealing.
My husband and I just recently did this when we purchased laptops. We have not received great customer service at our local Best Buy and Amazon is less expensive, so it wasn't a difficult choice for us to make.
If its electronics and fragile I would rather from Best Buy. I have had very irresponsible delivery persons bring stuff to my home when ordering from Amazon and have had fragile things arrive destroyed in their original packages. I wouldnt risk it with electronics although I would prefer to shop from Amazon.
The last couple of times I visited my local Best Buy, I fully intended to test-drive the products I had been researching online and if I liked them, planned on going home and making my purchases online. On one occasion, I was checking out a Macbook Pro - a pretty substantial purchase for me - about $1300.00. The other trip was to check out a pair of Dr. Dre Monsterbeats headphones - another pretty substantial purchase - about $120.00. On both occasions, even though I knew I could get the items I wanted for a lower price online, I decided to buy them at the store. The staff was helpful, I got to handle the merchandise, and I was in and out of the store in less than 30 minutes. I do order a lot of things almost exclusively online, but when it comes to big ticket items, I feel better about my purchases when I can see and touch the merchandise before I fork over a stack of $100 bills.
I'm also one of those impatient people that can't wait for their things to come in so I go to Best Buy if I definitely have to have something immediately. It's also nice to be able to physically see and inspect the product you want to purchase. I don't even mind paying a bit more if the difference isn't that substantial. The people at my Best Buy store are very nice and helpful so I can always go to them if I have questions and other issues. That's really helpful and it's an advantage for going to a physical store. Otherwise, if it's something that I'm not desperate for, I'd go on Amazon or some other online store and purchase it there.
I find that shopping online is way better than going in the physical store. You can find way better cheaper deals online and better things.
Both places has good deals, but if I want to see an actual product I can go to a nearby bestbuy, however if I want to see something on Amazon, that is not really possible.
I do this from time to time. I'll go in and take a look at the product to see the type of quality it is. After that, I'll go buy it on Amazon. You always get good prices on Amazon, and much better prices than Best Buy.
I have never had an issue with Best Buy though I can certainly get a good deal on Amazon. I just hate waiting for the item to arrive. If I need it now I need it now, know what I mean?
Best Buy ceased training in the UK and I never visited a Best Buy store while they were active. My decision depends on the price. You can save money online but you also have to pay for delivery. I prefer to buy clothes at a physical store because I like to try the clothes on before buying.
I have only bought one thing on Amazon. I had great results using Amazon. No complaints at all. My daughter uses Amazon all the time. For some reason, I feel more comfortable using Best Buy. I like the fact that i can see the item in person before purchasing it. I also like the no hassles, easy return policy that Best Buy has. The thought of returning something in the mail sounds like more of a hassle. My vote goes for Best Buy just for these reasons.
