I was very much satisfied with the stock Keyboard of my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It was very easy to input words, it had a personal dictionary to store my own words that are not in the English dictionary, and it predicts words with very high efficiency.

Then the update came. All the stored words in my personal dictionary was erased. Actually, there is no longer a personal dictionary. The word prediction had become crap too. Because of this, I started to look for alternative keyboard apps that would replace the stock Samsung app.

I've tried SwiftKey (premium version), GO Keyboard, A.I.Type (pro version), and a slew of other keyboard apps. None of them worked for me.

Then I discovered TouchPal X. It's a free keyboard available at the Google Play Store that I think has it all. It has a very good swipe feature, wide "next word" prediction function, a personal dictionary, tons of emojis, and the ability to resize the keyboard and position it wherever I want! And best of all, it's free! There's a premium feature too but the free version works fine for me.

Is TouchPal X the best keyboard for Android? I think so.

    Your thoughts?

SwiftKey for me. It's unbelievable how great it becomes when you use it for a couple of months... it reall does learn from the way you type. I've had it for maybe a year now and often I can write over 50% of the message by just using the 3 suggested words it gives me. Makes typing so much faster... also corrects all my typos when I've had a few beers!

    Completely in love with SwiftKey.

I like the keyboard the came withe Androids Ginger Bread operating system. I like the fact that the letters were bigger. I have fact fingers, and it is a struggle to press the buttons on the keyboard installed in Android 4.0. I have been trying to find a way to switch the keyboard, but i have not been successful.

Hmm, I never had the patience to try out SwiftKey for more than a month. TouchPal X learns a lot faster than SwiftKey IMO. Not only does i have a next word prediction, the sentence sweeping is also a dream to use and is a nice supplement to text prediction. Also, the app checks on the latest trends and incorporates it in the predictions and learned words. Does SwiftKey also have that?

Actually also have SwiftKey installed in my device but I only used it for a week at most.

In my opinion, Swiftkey is the best android keyboard currently available in the Play Store. I say this because I have been using it for the past couple of months and it has considerably increased my typing speed. Sometimes it astonishes with me its predictions which it comes up with. The swipe feature is also pretty good which can help you further increase your speed.

As far as I'm aware not really. You get updates into the dictionary once in a while but I don't think it's that similar to what you are talking about.
But to be honest, I prefer that it learns from my writing... and only from mine. It does take a while to learn it properly, but like I said now most of my sentences are written using just the words it predicts.

In order to speed up learning you can let SwiftKey access your email/facebook etc and learn from those ones too. I personally haven't tried this but might be worth it for you.

edit: ohh forgot one more great thing about swiftkey. Multiple languages simultaneously! I write in 3 different languages almost daily so it's a lifesaver not to have to change the language everytime I change to another one.

Swiftkey is the one that I used the most. The default Android keypad is pretty okay, but its not as accurate as Swiftkey, based on my personal experience. I also used Touchpal Keyboard, but the keys are too narrow and hitting the right letters and numbers can sometimes be the most annoying and daunting thing you'll ever encounter. But overall, I hate touchscreens when it comes to typing. Noting beats the old fashioned physical keys, I mean you can type on them blind folded and its 100% accurate compared to touchscreen keypads, even if you're staring at the thing you'll always miss. And also typing fast is just out of the question.
