I use Craigslist. It is less likely to get scammed since you meet in person. When your buying, you can see the condition it is in right away. If your selling you can make sure they have the cash. There is no way to get scammed using Craigslist. Unless you meet a weirdo.

Well, I've only used them three times. But all three times, all dealings went off without so much as the slightest issue.

I just discovered a site called webstore.com and are still investigating it so can't make a firm recommendation, but it look promising so far. There are no fees to buy or sell, only whatever you get charged by PayPal, GooglePay, your own bank, etc., and they do auctions as well as fixed price listings.

I tried buying from the trusted stores in multiply.com, and I'm quite pleased with the transaction process and the items that I have bought from there. They accept Paypal too, so you are safe if you bought a defective item and the seller won't cooperate.

The only good alternative to Ebay is Amazon.com in my opinion. Their prices are a bit higher but they offer good service and speedy shipping.

Theres only one alternative I know for eBay, and that is Amazon. I mean you could maybe try Craiglist, but I would not trust it because you never know. I have never personally used Craiglist, but I have used both Amazon and eBay. They are both great options for anyone looking for sites that have selling and buying options. However I don't see how you could be having a problem with eBay, they are awesome. They also are almost guaranteed to have what you need.

The thing that eBay has going for it are the amount of people using eBay. It opens the door to more people bidding on or finding your items. I've been using them for a long time. I've had a few issues but nothing that I could not resolve. The only thing I do not care for are the times when something is bid on and the person pulls out before paying. There is no consequence for that buyer. The best I can do is block that user from bidding on my items. That really does not help me or other sellers because they can continue doing as they please without any eBay interaction. I don't care if you bid on something and retract the bid but I do care when you win something and do not pay.

Bonanza has a very hometown and friendly feeling. The forum is great. People are nice and the site has a cute Portland hipster kind of look to it. But it's not an auction site, so your item could sit there for a long time waiting for a buyer to come by. I like Bonanza, but mostly as a buyer.

The main thing that I hate about eBay is the new search system. Everyone used to get equal ranking in searches, depending on when their item was ending. Now in order to show up higher in search, you have to have Top Rated Seller status. So your item is basically invisible to shoppers unless you meet certain criteria.

The only alternative to eBay that I know of is Amazon, and the only reason that is the case is because they're are not really that many competitors in that area or niche. All there really is, is eBay and Amazon.

I too have searched for an alternative to Ebay. For a seller of normal or not handmade items it seems there is no comparison! Well maybe Amazon? As a buyer there are a few other options. I love Amazon for buying! For selling I have not found a replacement for eBay!

    Some eBay alternatives are:
    - Amazon
    - Etsy
    - Craigslist
    - eBid
    - Running your own store
    - Finding niche-specific selling platforms (e.g. Threadflip for selling clothes)

Basically, eBay has higher fees but the most traffic and sales, so it's a bit of a toss up either way, but there's no harm listing in these other places to see if you can't make decent profits there! :)

I'd like to recommend Craigslist except that there are many scammers there so you better be careful when dealing with that website. Yes, Etsy is okay but it doesn't really float some people's boats. Amazon is cool because they're now accommodating other items and not just books. There's Alibaba if you like to sell stuff in wholesale or retail. There are stores like Lazada and Zalora (operating world wide but with branches in selected countries) where you can also sell your stuff to. You have to present an operator's license, though, before you can showcase your goods.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had such negative experiences with Ebay. As an active Ebay seller, I can't say the same for me. If anything, Ebay's new policies and features have made it easier than ever for a small time seller like myself to list previous-owned products and hand-crafted gifts. However, I do agree that the listing limit is frustrating, especially if you're trying to make a living off of the website. But to put it simply, their limit is still higher than almost any other comparable website. I would suggest trying out Etsy though. You can sell handmade gifts and crafts for ridiculous amounts of money on there because people understand the time and dedication it takes to make something with your own hands. However, the selling aspects are fairly limited in comparison to Ebay. If that doesn't work out, try Bonanza, Amazon, or using a free website from Blogger to promote your products (you'll invest a lot of time, but it builds your brand).
